People in Germany call the police when they run over a cat? And usually when cats are run over, they aren't "seriously injured". They're flattened.

That was what I was thinking. Is cat smushing a crime in Germany? Were they just turning themselves in?

You kill an animal (including wild) or a tree in Germany and you just bought every possible offspring that animal/tree could have had and the offsprings of the offsprings. Hit a chicken and it will be a $10K chicken. Same goes for the near blind wild boar (the full grown ones are the size of small cars).
