This happens quite a bit during the winter season. Cats seek warmth and security. The under-hood area of cars provide both. We'll hear more of these stories.
True, but it makes for a lot of 3-legged cats.
My brother always hits his horn and bangs on the hood before cranking his truck. Nothing more disturbing than killing a cat in the fan belt :(
Of course, these stories do not always end so well, I'm afraid. A friend of mine heard a thud and a splat when starting his truck one morning about fifteen years ago....
I was 8 years old in South Carolina on base and mom gave us a ride to school. We heard something and looked back and the cat was jumping ten feet in the air in pain.
Mom was afraid to stop with us, but after dropping us off went back. The cat went to sleep in the hood but got out at the wrong time.
I didnt know cats could jump that high. I still remember it to this day.
Happened to our big orange tabby....the hood was popped and there he was looking up and very annoyed.....had to get his
tail sewed back together and where one of those "space" helmets so he wouldn't try to lick it....it was kinda funny because his tail looked like a lion's....all shaved with a puff of fur at the end:-)
Mechanics hate this, did you ever try to autopsy a fan balde?
