Yes Virginia, there Is A Kwanzaa
December 6th, 2004
It's that time of year again, the time when much of the grown-up world conspires in a fun game of "let's pretend," a time when normally serious people think, act, and behave as if something fantastic, something wonderful, something make-believe is actually true. I'm not talking of the "jolly old elf" you might be expecting. I am referring to that much more mythical of things, the "Holiday Season," as proclaimed in "Happy Holidays" and "Season's Greetings."
To hear the plain truth these days is such a rare occurrence that it may cause shock to the central nervous system. It is outrageous. It is blasphemy. So steel yourself for what is to follow.

Halloween.
Re: Pearl Harbor Day.
I was due or should I say my mother was due to deliver me about the 7th of December, 1941. But I held on 'till December 30th. They still got the tax break.
Kwaanza is NOT anti-white.I know cause I've been to a couple and almost all the blacks who "do"Kwaanza are middle class "creative"types who are generally fairly inclusive. And almost all these same blacks ALSO celebrate Christmas so its not an either/or type of proposition.
Now I DO agree that Professor Ron Karenga has a very questionable background and his involvement should be very suspect.Yet the original Kwaanza ceremony comes for an old East African harvest festival.Nothing wrong with that as far as I can see.
Hell, wouldn't you rather see black kids celebrate Kwaanza than some gangsta ethic or hoochie mentality?
I had one baby on December 22. I was very stressed about the tax thing :-). My great-uncle got married on December 5, 1941, and joined the Army on December 10; they just had their 63rd anniversary. And my college roommate, a Chinese girl from Hawaii, got married in Honolulu on Pearl Harbor Day, 1994! I'd better send her a "Happy Anniversary" e-mail tomorrow.
That may be too gender biased.
Seems too masculine and pedophillic.
Tax-Chick, I would have never guessed. My son was born on January 1 and I was told If he was born during the first hour of the year we could still take the deduction. Had to correct it later. Bad Advise.
Happy wishes for a Kwazy Kwanzaa and a Mhappy Mnew Myear.
The same people that hate Kwanzaa hate the black santas at the mall.
don't forget the kwansaa candelabra that is an obvioous ripoff of the chanukah menorah. couldn't he fabricate a holiday that was at least original?
LOL! You so funny.
WOW...thats some toe smasher ya got there.
Thats because it is totally ridiculous to blame the downfall of Christmas on Kwanzaa. You may say the creator of Kwanzaa is a loser or the celebration is stupid and has no merit. However, blaming the loss of the Christmas spirit on Kwanzaa is over the edge. Its not that many AA that celebrate it to make it a serious contender with Christmas. And many of the ones that celebrate Kwanzaa, celebrate Christmas. Its a holiday that has gained support from merchant for the same reason that Christmas has(to increase their bottom line). Why do you think the Christmas season starts so early? Has nothing to do with Advent. So, why waste time arguing the merit of this holiday or its creator? If youre not celebrating it, dont worry about it. Otherwise, it sounds like you just hate it because it is something that blacks (some) celebrate and you would take offense to the black Santas in the mall.
I remember that from last year, a howler. Did you make that?
Word has it that it just might be what they were using before we got there....
Yes.
