Bush snubs Canadian Parliament

And it looks good on them. During the U.S. president’s official visit to Canada on November 30 and December 1, the White House rejected an invitation for Bush to address a joint session of the House of Commons and the Senate. According to sources, the Parliamentary appearance was declined to avoid booing which was expected from some of the “Honourable” Members.

Bush will of course meet with Prime Minister Martin and, according to protocol, will meet with Stephen Harper as leader of the Official Opposition. But NDP leader Jack Layton and Bloq Quebecois leader, Gilles Duceppe will not have the opportunity to meet with the American president.

While Paul Martin was in Africa last week trumping one world government or whatever he was doing, he told the media that he wasn’t worried about the protests that would be awaiting George Bush’s arrival in Ottawa. According to Martin, the U.S. president is an experienced politician who can handle protests.

Even taking into account that the hatred of George Bush results in much greater protests than the three or four losers who stand on Parliament Hill to protest the one or two social programs that Martin hasn’t thrown enough money at, Martin is probably right. Now that we have established that Bush is not afraid of protests, the declining of the invitation to address Parliament must have been taken for another reason. . . . .

Remember Bush refused to attend the NAACP convention each year also. He does not feel the presidency is a punching bag.

You will note that he always insures that he does not do anything to dishonor the presidency. That is why he does not throw cheap punches, make hateful comments. He is pure class as is the position of President of the U.S.

Another reason we love this man - no matter how many liberals paint him as a dummy, a Hitler, a moron, a war-mongerer.

He is taking care of us - the American heartland, and we understand what motivates this fine man.

It is somewhat sad to me that there is so much Canadian bashing going on at F.R. I know that some Canadians have trashed the USA but the majority of them are very good people. The silent majority just hasn't taken over up there as yet, hopefully they will in the future. Just like in our country the Lefties have the biggest mouths and do all the shouting and their left wing media sanctions it. (just like in America).

I know quite a few Canadians and they don't feel at all like you read in the media. I am American Indian and it upsets me when all Indians are portrayed as drunkin lazy dirty Indians. It's not fun on this end of the stick.

Canadian leftists deserve nothing but our continued derision. They are neither friends nor allies to my way of thinking.

What is funny is all these socialists that expect president Bush to validate their "feelings" about him. They are so used to getting patted on the head by big mommy for spewing out the leftist party line, that they are beside themselves that Bush isn't listening.

Freedom is a wonderful and protest away if you must. What the socialists forget is that the rest of us are equally free to ignore them at our pleasure, good little fascists that they are.

The good people of Canada need to stop being complacent and stand up and be counted. When they have elections, vote out those idiots who are ruining your beautiful country. If the vast majority of Canadians don't think like the socialists there, than they should do something about it. We really worked hard to get Pres Bush elected 2 times now. It is hard work to take your country back but it can be done but not by complacency.

First, nobody is bashing all Canadians. I'm sorry about the Indian stereotypes that get tossed around and find it repulsive. However, your comment about "this end of the stick" misses the mark as conservatives, Christians, and the like also get unfairly stereotyped and lumped together so we, too, know the feeling.

Considering the recent Canadian elections, I think it's safe to assume that Canada wants to remain an ideological province of France.

When the Canadians start to get serious about taking their place in the world (and no, sending a unit or two to Kabul isn't gonna cut it), then I'll start to respect them more.
