New Video Game Recreates Kennedy Assassination
Reuters ^ | Sun Nov 21, 2004 | Ben Berkowitz

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A new video game to be released on Monday allows players to simulate the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy.

The release of "JFK Reloaded" is timed to coincide with the 41st anniversary of Kennedy's murder in Dallas and was designed to demonstrate a lone gunman was able to kill the president.

"It is despicable," said David Smith, a spokesman for Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy, the late president's brother. He was informed of the game on Friday but declined further comment.

Kirk Ewing, managing director of the Scottish firm Traffic Games, which developed the game, said he understood some people would be horrified at the concept, but he insisted he and his team had nothing but respect for Kennedy and for history.

"We believe that the only thing we're exploiting is new technology," said Ewing, a former documentary filmmaker and senior executive with Scottish developer VIS, responsible for games like "State of Emergency." He said he sent Edward Kennedy a letter before the game's release.

Ewing said the game was designed to undermine the theory there was some shadowy plot behind the assassination. "We believe passionately there was no conspiracy," he said.

Traffic Games said the objective was for a player to fire three shots at Kennedy's motorcade from assassin Lee Harvey Oswald's digitally recreated sixth-floor perch in the Texas School Book Depository.

Points are awarded or subtracted based on how accurately the shots match the official version of events as documented in by the Warren Commission, which investigated Kennedy's assassination.

Shooting the image of Kennedy in the right spots in the right sequence adds to the score, while "errors" like shooting first lady Jacqueline Kennedy lead to deductions.

Each shot can be replayed in slow motion, and the bullets can be tracked as they travel and pass through Kennedy's digitally recreated body. Players can choose to see blood by pressing a "blood effects" option.

Players can view the motorcade from a number of angles, including the perspective of filmmaker Abraham Zapruder and a view from the "grassy knoll" where some conspiracy theorists believe a second gunman was stationed.

The game will be available via download for $9.99.

I had a friend that had bought a surplus mauser and a couple boxes of ammo the same day JFK was killed in Dallas. My friend had the rifle in the back of his car parked at his place of employment about a half a mile from the Texas Book depository . He didn't even go near his car till they grabbed oswald and the carcano he was so scared. He was so shook he had to ride home with a co-worker that evening.

I refer to him to this day as the man on the grassy knoll....

Yes, someone is trying to capitalize on the assassination of our president. At the the same time, it proves that there was no conspiracy. I'm waiting for the AREA 51/ALIEN AUTOPSY game or the FAKING THE MOON LANDING GAME. It will take a few years before the DUBYA DIDN'T STEAL THE ELECTIONS game TO COME OUT. I can wait.

Until then back and to the left,

Oh my God!! Could you imagine a video game recreating WWII or Vietnam? Or how about with Grant (President Grant!!!) in war getting killed? My Lord? Or how about a recreation of Pearl Harbor... or even (gasp) tactical nuclear war games!!

The fact is that the shots could have and were made by one person. There is no magic bullet; 3D models of Dealey Plaza show that the Zapruder film is perfectly in sync with both of Oswald's connecting shots. There were no shots from the front.

Watch The Kennedy Assassination - Beyond Conspiracy; it debunks all of the multiple shooter myths and uses the Zapruder film to prove it.

This nation is losing its dignity.

Puh-leeze. Politics in the early days of the Republic makes modern sleaze look like High Tea at Buckingham Palice.

3 shots in 7.2 seconds

Actually, since the start of the 7.2 second interval is defined by the time of the first shot (rather than some independent signal), he only had to fire 2 shots in 7.2 seconds after the first one.

All Marines are riflemen - even the radar operators.

Oswald was a good shot; maybe not up to the Marine level of "sniper", but a good shot nonetheless - if he wasn't, he wouldn't be a Marine.

Points are awarded or subtracted based on how accurately the shots match the official version of events as documented in by the Warren Commission, which investigated Kennedy's assassination.

So...if I get a bullet to penetrate JFK...change direction...TWICE...penetrate a car seat......shatter Conneley's wrist, change DIRECTION again, and come to rest in Conneley's thigh...all the while maintaining a PRISTINE (some might say NEVER FIRED) appearance...

What is my score...do I get to claim credit for a "magic bullety"...will I become Chairman of the Senate Judiciary..and will I EVER be held accountable (even under "Scottish Law") for the corruption I perpetrated in aiding Ira Einhorn?

The Democrats at DU find this entirely distasteful that someone would make such a game. Meanwhile this is the banner at the top of every web page:

An animated gif of President Bush being punched in the face until his eye is blackened.

F. Democrats

The DUmmies also poo-pooed criticism of the plot to assassinate Bush play and unrelated novel that came out prior to the election this year.

They also ignore Air America's announcer's statement that "someone should take him outside and shoot him" as "satire".

This game has more place on the shelf than the flight simulator used by the 9/11 hijackers (the landscape was correct and helped them to identify locations). One magazine (Gear) even did an article on using the program to "see" what the hijackers saw.

Yep, he analyzed and wrote the magic bullet theory when he was on the Warren Commission. I think it was before he became Philadephia DA.
