President Bush stepped into the middle of a confrontation and pulled his lead Secret Service agent away from Chilean security officials who barred his bodyguards from entering an elegant dinner for 21 world leaders Saturday night.
Several Chilean and American agents got into a pushing and shoving match outside the cultural center where the dinner was held. Bush noticed the fracas after posing for pictures on a red carpet with the summit host, Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and his wife and first lady Laura Bush.
You are very welcome.
Yes. I don't quite understand the details of the story. Was he separated from all of his detail? If he was, this is horribly frightening. From the pictures where he returns to retrieve the agent, it looks as though there are no agents who have his front, sides or back. I don't understand this.
I took a look, too. There is one level-headed person in there.
Yes it is such a blessing!
I kinda feel like I'm going on *way* too much about my son-in-law. But, he is an awesome man.
I must also say that my other daughter's husband is equally incredible. He served 5 years in the IDF fighting the same Muslim terrorists. I haven't had a son, but both of these fine men have become wonderful sons to me.
You are truly blessed then to have 4 sons! :-)
From what I can tell from the pictures, he had a badge which I'm guessing gave him the clearance needed
When he was confronted, and struggled, he took himself out of position to protect the President. Wha he shoudl have done, when his access was blocked, was stop, stand still, and loudly call out.."Mr President, please do NOT enter the room sir.."
I understand your point about the struggle .. but his job is to stay with the President and I can understand the agent struggling to get to the President ..
Thanks Dio.
There's a lot to say here, but I just can't.
Thanks again.
I don't go over there, they make me feel dirty.
(D)ucks (U)pchucking
Amen!
For all of the DU Trolls - go over and tell them how awesome you think Bush is for what he did and you may change your politics because of it.
I just did....
{giggle....}
Wonderful! Thanks for the ping, OWF.
truly they must be or they just don't like someone with integrity and decency. He must shame them for the man he is and they are all too, too small to measure up. Well, their attitudes are the reason they're so small and if they would just behave like normal decent human beings they might start to measure up !! Thank you, I'm finished with my rant now!
Yes, this whole story is disturbing. Why did an argument even occur with the Chilean police? Shouldn't all this stuff be worked out in advance? Why is the President having to inject himself into a melee?
The whole incident has me very concerned as well. In looking thru the photo sequence on Drudge, it looks like that one SS agent is the only one who got in. Many more SS agents were still kept outside arguing with Chile security. One agent isn't enough to adequately protect.
I know nothing about SS security protocol, but it seems to me that at some point they need to open fire to eliminate whatever seperates them from the president.
Really? I must not have read far enough down to find that one...but after the 5th or 6th post, i gave up.

I am glad I worked hard and wrote checks to get him re-elected. Just wonderful how he stood up for the Secret Service guys. Could you imagine Clinton?
My only beef is Specter and any amnesty which I will fight.
These are valid questions that I'd want answers to also. Almost like something out of a Tom Clancy novel.
I'm sure the poster will be banned soon.
