A statewide recount of the presidential vote appears inevitable after a pair of third-party candidates said they have collected enough money to pay for it.
The recount would be conducted after the election results are certified in early December.
Libertarian Michael Badnarik and the Green Party's David Cobb said on Monday they raised more than $150,000 in four days, mostly in small contributions.
Ohio law requires payment of $10 per precinct for a recount, or $113,600 statewide.
Badnarik and Cobb said they aren't trying to overturn President Bush's 136,000-vote victory in Ohio, but just want to ensure that all votes were counted properly in the face of concerns about Election Day irregularities.

Let them recount. Bush will probably pick up more votes.
Ditto.
Does a nation at war really need this? Good grief, I hate the Left and the phony libertarians who are really just organized to cost the GOP votes.
Who do you think paid for this? It sure wasn't libertarians or greenies. IT was the leftist DemocRATs who are using the 3rd party candidates (playing them like a cheap deck of cards) as a front.
How much does it cost to pay for a recount in Wisconsin? Seriously. 150k is barely more than double the last fundraising round-up here, which was accomplished in record time. We're not going to lose Ohio, so why not have some fun along the way?
"What in the hell is wrong with Badnarik? What an ass."
I'll never be able to figure these people out. EVER
The sad thing about the recount is that they intend to count the "spoiled" ballots, i.e. the punch card ballots that have under and overvotes.
So I guess we'll be seeing a bunch more google-eyed election officials trying to use all their psychic powers to divine who the person voted for.
Amen.
All things considered, this is pretty cheap as far as PR for the Libertarians are concerned.
Anyone who sees their involvement as anything OTHER than a PR stunt need to check their reality meter.
I bet they never even counted absentee ballots in Cullyfoaneeah. Lesss do it!
It was either Turley or Alter who said that this is what would happen, and it wouldn't affect the current outcome.
Correction:
Bush may have won PA too is all the fraudulent votes are tossed.
Well when the voters of Ohio find out they have to foot the 1.5 million dollar bill, I don't think they'll be more inclined to vote for Democrats, Greens, or Libertarians.
A red state will get redder (is that even a word, LOL)!
Badnarik and Cobb said they aren't trying to overturn President Bush's 136,000-vote victory in Ohio, but just want to ensure that all votes were counted properly in the face of concerns about Election Day irregularities.
Bullcrap! That is exactly what they are trying to do.
If you dig deep enough you will uncover a soros.
"Anyone who sees their involvement as anything OTHER than a PR stunt need to check their reality meter."
I cant think of it as anything else...unless the libertarians have been coopted by Sorros money.
Anything to destroy both is good.
-do not forget the tin foil hatted BBV DU conspiracy nuts funding this easter egg hunt!
