guess they didn't need me on the jury afterall.

Gonna take a drive by the Covena residence. Got a feeling that local folk might want to leave some rememberances.

Well, jury trial is always like rolling the dice.

You can try to set up conditions as well as possible for your client, and spend a lot of time picking your jury, but it's still kinda chancy.

I tried never to send a case to a jury unless I was sure I had an iron-clad case. Naturally, juries tend to be pretty free with insurance companies' money, so if a case was in some doubt it was usually in our client's best interest to settle. The ones we tried were usually where the plaintiff got greedy and wouldn't settle for a reasonable amount. No-liability cases usually went out on summary judgment - that's where I really liked to win 'em. A good deposition is the foundation of a defense summary judgment, that's where your bread and butter is.

yes about that time

I'm reminded of what Judge N. mentioned on FNC of how the jury showed up today dressed casual when all during the trial they had not

Maybe the Jury decided yesterday before they left for the day

Keep in mind .. I'm just guessing because of that 5 hour time frame

has anyone else reported on that fact?

Perhaps you have mistaken Nancy Grace with Catherine Crier. They both have similar blond hair styles.

That may be it. But I saw someone post earlier that Nancy was choking back tears while trying to report on the verdict.

I was watching Fox News and missed her. But what little I did watch Nancy over the past year, it seemed to me that she was on Snott's side. But like I said, I didn't watch her that much.

(boo on the judge who set a trial for CHRISTMAS EVE!)

Jeez. Sounds like the lawyer I knew who didn't want to let his secretary go to the hospital when her son broke his leg at school. He needed her at work much more than her son needed her at the hospital. Thank God she wasn't intimidated and she went anyway.

I hate the bad rap lawyers get, but sometimes they (mostly the men) deserve it. : )

Scott is lucky he didn't commit this crime in Texas.

Yeah, but Texas has such boring, mundane murder trials. Like the guy that shot his best friend over the last beer, the lady that ran over her husband at the Marriott. But I must admit, the one where the pedestrian was stuck in the windshild of the drunks car, as she drives home and parks in her garage for a few days with him still stuck in the windshield, that was pretty interesting.

BTW - In doing a google search on the name "Amber Frey," I came across a story on how during World War II, the name "Amber Frey" was used as a codename for erotic spies used to sexually get secrets out of high ranking nazi officials. LOL!

At this moment, I suspect it would be difficult to drive an ice pick up Scott's ass with an 8 pound ballpene hammer.

two questions..from one who really hasn't followed the case very closely..

1. Was Scott ever offered a plea deal before the trial?

2. Imagine if, when she testifies during the penalty phase, Lacey's mom asks the jury NOT to kill Scott..rather let him spend the rest of his life behind bars, because, she'll say, "I know Scott very well, and believe me, that would be a WORSE punishment for him.."

When Scott Peterson was in college there was a girl who went missing at his school. He supposedly left school in the middle of the semester. Does anybody remember this?

on the grounds that the jurors' crib had a revolving door.

Jurors dismissed for cause is not reversible error. Sorry, but this will be appealed but in the end it will stand.

...it seemed to me that she was on Snott's side.

You aren't thinking of Nancy Grace. Nancy has never said anything remotely indicating she was "on Scott's side." She's never even played Devil's Advocate in this case in that way. From day one she has been hard-as-nails, 100 percent anti-Scott Peterson. She's never given an inch on this. She was crying because she was sitting in court with four of Laci's friends who were also crying in joy for justice.

I use to work at a law firm and one day one of the Partners brought his kids into work and told his secretary to watch them and also get all the typing done

Well the secretary did her typing and the kids went into the copy room and proceeded to take the ink stamps and stamp their 4 yr old brother with "URGENT" .. "COPY" .. "CONFIDENTIAL" all over his arms and face .. LOL

Let's just day it was the last time the partner brought his kids into work
