Flags at half-mast at UN for Arafat
Khaleej Times Online ^ | 11 November 2004 | AFP

GENEVA - Flags were flown at half mast at the United Nations on Thursday, as the world body paid tribute to late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat by granting him the same honours as a head of state, a UN spokeswoman said.

UN Secretary General “Kofi Annan asked us to apply the same protocol as for heads of state,” said Marie Heuze, spokeswoman for the UN’s European headquarters in Geneva.

The president of the Palestinian Authority, which only has observer status at the UN partly because it is not an internationally-recognised state, died at a hospital in Paris early on Thursday.

The UN said early Thursday that Annan early Thursday was “deeply moved” by Arafat’s death.

“For nearly four decades, he expressed and symbolized in his person the national aspirations of the Palestinian people,” a statement released by the Secretary-General’s office in New York said.

====== Islamic Calendar with Preknowledge of the 911 Atrocities ==================

The Islamic 911 Calendar [available at the UN before 911]
was distributed worldwide the year BEFORE
the terrorists murdered 3000 Americans per hour in the 911 Atrocities.

September 2001 is shown below along with the image of the 911 attack months in advance.

Kofi and his terrorist ilk all belong in Gitmo.

I think it was 1974 or 1975 when Arafat got a tumultuous ovation when he spoke to the UN General Assembly while he was wearing a loaded gun in a holster on his hip.
Freedom House says that one out of every five of the 191 members of the UN General Assembly are ranked as the most oppressive regimes in the world. Twenty percent and that is probably a low figure. The UN routinely violates its own Charter of 1945 that was written by people with western values. The charter states that a country that wants to be a member must guarantee human rights and the rule of law. As far as I am concerned, at least 20 percent of the members of the UN do not belong as members in the first place. Put them outside the tent? Why not? Membership should be earned. Right now, if you have a group of criminals and can dominate territory and design a flag, you too can be admitted to the UN as a member. These criminal states lecture Britain and America on rights and the rule of law? Give me a break.

Yes, Arafat's anti-Israeli fan club is all stationed at the U.N. -- now they have to figure out who will be their next terror-shill in charge of killing Israelis....

Arafat's favorite goat will miss him...

Just a semantic technocality but flags fly at half mast only on ships, on the ground they fly at half staff.

Isn't it half-STAFF when it is on land and half-MAST while on ship?

You are correct. My first hope when I saw this story was that it meant we had finally kicked that sorry organization into New York harbor and it was being carried out to sea on a garbage scow.

Don't know the answer to this - did they fly them at half mast when Reagan died?

My flag is proudly at full staff and is today honoring veterans of the US Military. The only honor I would offer arafat would involve porcine excretia.

Flags were flown at half mast at the United Nations...as the world body paid tribute to...Yasser Arafat.

I don't give a rat's ass what they do with that blue snot rag.

I am, however, highly incensed if that bunch of idiots took it upon themselves to lower Old Glory to half-mast for that murderous, faggot lecher.

Can anyone confirm as to whether this has occurred?

If I find that a US Flag has been lowered for this POS, I'm going to flood the State Department with complaints and demands for apology.

Wrap that nasty faggot up in a dirty sheet and roll him into the nearest sewage lagoon.

Hell, don't waste a sheet on him, just roll him into a ditch somewhere.

The UN loves its propaganda.

Right now, the propaganda is all that Arafat was oh so good. When the whole world figures out that he died from AIDS/HIV and the Arab community absorbs that reality, the shame emanating from that will stink worse and worse. Afafat's death from AIDS will bring him down from the mythic figure he is now in the Arab world.

Fitting that he is probably the most famous figure to die that way.

Just a semantic technocality but flags fly at half mast only on ships, on the ground they fly at half staff.

On a US Navy base they also fly at half mast. (Probably true of a Coast Guard base, but I can't verify that.)

Flush the UN out of Flushing Meadow.

The USA-less UN should reheadquarter itself to Zimbabwe (or is it Zimbabme?) where their bloated salaries will help the locals and parking will never be a problem.
