TO ALL VETS...THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU! (VANITY)
Self | Veterans Day 2004 | Jeff Head

Posted on 11/11/2004 6:20:53 AM PST by Jeff Head

Regardless of what branch of service, regardless of what time of service, regardless of speciality, regardless of position or tour of duty...

From the bottom of my heart and on behalf of me and my family and the liberty, security, safety, prosperity, and opportunity we enjoy in this blessed nation...

I want to thank every veteran serving today, yesterday and those who will serve in the furure. Your sacrifice, your service, your commitment and hard work has not gone unnoticed, unappreciated and has NEVER been in vain.

God bless you each and all of your loved ones...and God rest the souls of those who gave all.

Respectfully, thankfully,

Jeff Head

The Soldier

It is the soldier, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.

It is the soldier, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the soldier,
who salutes the flag,
who serves under the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protester to burn the flag.

I took the young marine to the military surplus store and got him a set of desert digital BDUs so that he wouldn't have to show up in Fallujah in his class Ds and sent him on his way at the airport last night.

You just brought tears to my eyes. Thank you and God Bless you and yours!

Thank you!

I think of many on this day, but especially my father who flew B-29's over Japan during WW2.(he died in 1981...)

He talks about finding a toad in his sandwich, while flying over the Pacific late one night.

That still brings a chuckle to members of my family!

Deepest Gratitude for all those who have served!

In particular, I have a message to all Veterans who served and did not see combat: I truly appreciate you guys and gals, too. I think sometimes that people tend to overlook you, and only focus on the combat veterans. While their sacrifice and heroism is unparalleled, don't ever let that diminish that fact that YOU were willing to put yourself in that same position, had the need arisen. In my eyes, you are no less heroic than they.

Wow, what's the story behind that photo? That would certainly not be the case in my small central Indiana town! We have two parades each year, and I guarantee that when the Colors go by, darn near everybody stands!

Hope I don't get in trouble with Toby Keith for posting this but this song always reminds me of how much we owe the people who have served and are serving in our armed forces.

American Solider by Toby Keith

I'm just trying to be a father,
Raise a daughter and a son,
Be a lover to their mother,
Everything to everyone.
Up and at 'em bright and early,
I'm all business in my suit,
Yeah, I'm dressed for success from my head down to my boots,
I don't do it for money, there's still bills that I can't pay,
I don't do it for the glory, I just do it anyway,
Providing for our future's my responsibility,
Yeah I'm real good under pressure, being all that I can be,
And I can't call in sick on Mondays when the weekends been to strong,
I just work straight through the holidays,
And sometimes all night long.
You can bet that I stand ready when the wolf growls at the door,
Hey, I'm solid, hey I'm steady, hey I'm true down to the core,
And I will always do my duty, no matter what the price,
I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice,
Oh, and I don't want to die for you,
But if dyin's asked of me,
I'll bear that cross with an honor,
'Cause freedom don't come free.
I'm an American Soldier, an American,
Beside my brothers and my sisters I will proudly take a stand,
When liberty's in jeopardy I will always do what's right,
I'm out here on the front lines, sleep in peace tonight.
American soldier, I'm an American,
An American,
An American Soldier

From my family to yours Thank You

I posted this a couple of days after the election, it was addressed to the Swifties, but it applies to all Vets.

Thousands of years ago, the Persian Emperor Xerxes and 600,000 of the fiercest fighters in the world came to invade and conquer Greece, they faced Spartan King/General Leonidas, 300 of his personal bodyguard, plus a handful of Thebans and others who had volunteered to defend their homeland against them.

When Xerxes offered to spare their lives if they laid down their arms, Leonidas shouted these two words back:

"MOLON LABE!"

"Come and get them!"

In the spot of the battle today, there stands a plaque honoring the memories of those valiant men, it reads:

"Go tell the Spartans, travelers passing by, that here, obedient to their laws we lie."

America's Vietnam veterans stood their ground, and refused to lay down their arms, and in the end, they proved that winning a battle is sometimes more important than winning the war.

To the brothers who fought and fell, and to the ones who fought beyond the war...and won the battle, goes the thanks of a grateful nation.

Well done...well done indeed.

Go tell the Spartans...

I agree with that 100%...and it is the patriotic, supportive, appreciative citizen, here at home doing their civic duty that makes it possible for the soldier to serve as they do.

We are all in this together and we must never forget their service...or our responsibilities.
