I'm hoping and praying that these predictions are in part due to a new strategy by the Pentagon,ie: make it sound like its going to be really high casualties, then when it's not,you can say everyone is grateful, rather then the other way around, that plays right into the media hands, who will go on hollering about casualties. In my view, this is a war, and that is why war is horrible because very brave very good soldiers die.God Bless to the US Forces in Iraq.

On the other hand simply remotely leveling the area a block at a time makes a lot of sense to me if it keeps our Troops safer.

We need to pray hard for all our Marines but I don't think this pessimistic prediction will come to pass. Air support will be a big help in this battle.

I'm not trying to minimize the danger, but this hospital will be treating US, Allied and enemy casualties.

Also, if history is any lesson, military hospitals always prepare for the worst-case senario, so they will be ready for any eventuality. It is always better to have more surgeons, more medicine and more hospital beds than necessary.

glad to hear all these preparations are being made but wish the media would quit talking about them as they are making our medical facilities and personnel a big target for terrorists.

Sit back and see where they want us to go... then bomb the hell out of that section of town. At a minimum, once we see where the traps are likely to be, we should destroy all roadside vehicles that could be bombs from the air... and bomb the streets where mines might be before we go in. We have a powerful Air Force, let's use it. I would rather spend $100M on bombs than risk any Marines unnecessarily.
