I am thinking of running for office (Big Vanity with lights)
Myself ^ | November 4 | Moi

Posted on 11/04/2004 3:34:38 PM PST by MissouriConservative

While I was casting my vote here in Kansas City, I looked at my state representative race for the Missouri House...and noticed that only one person was on the ballot and it was a democrat to boot. No Republican was running....and I was ashamed.

After talking with my lovely Mrs. MissouriConservative, I have reached a decision....I am going to run for the 44th district here in Missouri in 2006.

I know there are a few Freepers here in KC and would love to have them help in way they can. I am going to join a lot of local Republican clubs and begin networking. I not only need the physical help, but a lot of prayers and spiritual guidance. We cannot let a democrat run unopposed, no matter how democratic the district may be.

I am currently studying my opponent to be, and she has a lot of weaknesses....voting for medical pot usage, still trying to get Missouri to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, etc.

This district is changing, albeit slowly, and more people are moving to the suburbs and voting is slowly trending towards conservatives.

Whatcha all think?

Go for it, buddy. It's the best and worst thing you'll ever do. That will make more sense to you after you have been on the campaign trail for a while. I speak from experience: I'm one for three myself.

If you want anything, even just a sympathetic ear to listen to insane rantings, just FReep-mail me.

That's really odd. Did you talk to Jim about that?

Of course I did. I was the only US Congressional Candidate from FR. I was also very grateful that there were freepers in my area who were able to help me and benefit from my VIP tickets to all presidential events. It's just sad that we had to do it by freepmail and behind closed doors. As I said before, I also did not ask for any money from FR or advertize because I knew that I would be shut down.

Here are my results in just one town. I got more votes than the president, more votes than candidates who were unopposed. I got the most votes in the entire town.

That really surprises me that you would be ostracized like that. Normally FR is proud of its successful candidates.

Ah, well, I haven't time to ponder it. Sorry, though...

Robinson allowed you advertizing even though you didn't run. You were advertizing for donations on your tagline even though you didn't run.

I am sure that if Robinson would have allowed me a button on the homepage that I would have been able to accept donations, as you did, from Free Republic. I was unable to do that. I was unable to post any articles from the newspapers or press releases from the RNC or State Party before they were deleted.

Remember, I was an official candidate. I did all the work. I filed, ran the primary, was a national delegate, ran in the general, was endorsed and appeared with the President, First Lady, and a couple of days ago I was with Dick and Lynn Cheney, but was unable to post anything about it before it was pulled.

If you check on the Yahoo News sites for press photos I am 3 feet from Dick Cheney and I am mentioned on the White House website. Yet on FR I was treated like scum.

In the coming days ahead....you may regret that offer.....lol

OOPs! Well anyway that does give you a few years to get to know if he's good enough for your daughter. Of course he won't be and neither will anyone else be-no one is ever good enough for a Father's daughter.

My Father-in-law just had to lower his standards a little bit-how about yours?

Being a FReeper in good standing is a great litmus test (right Arlen?). Add a good resume, and decent political skills and you will find assistance here (including me).

Go get 'em! Missouri is a conservative state, and it's NOT insane to dream of taking back the cities (no, it's not!). Your plan to join groups and educate yourself on the procedures sounds very sensible, and I have a lot of respect for you for making the effort. God bless you!

Good idea. You never know when a Congressman will get caught in a pedophile sting. We should never let one run unopposed.

My father-in-law was ex-army and the hoops I had to jump through were many. But once he got to know my politics and my principles.....I was in but good.

Sadly he passed away 4 years ago....He is sorely missed.

Hello,

Good for you! Although I am in St. Louis, I would be proud to help in anyway possible. (Doesn't it seem, that since yesterday, anything is possible?)

Glad to be here, MOgirl

I always felt Free Rebublic was filled with some of the most intelligent, politically astute people in the country.

In other words, go for it pal.

I say go for it, unless you got a detention in the first grade that the Left will dig up on ya... cuz then we'd drop you in a heartbeat and some carpetbagging republican from outta state would come and run in your place, and it would cause lots of hard feelings on FR, with people suspended, banned, former FRiends at each others throats etc...

Do you REALLY want to be responsible for that? Choose wisely, grasshopper ;0)
