A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

No Gloating, Please!
by JohnHuang2
I admit it's tempting, deliciously tempting, especially after a grueling campaign as this, but I won't. Instead, I'm going to be magnanimous. In other words, if you're looking for gloating, you're looking in the wrong place. From published reports, I gather the White House has adopted a similar No-Gloat approach, and I think that's a good thing. Some of you might not agree -- what's wrong with a little gloating? -- but I think we've got to be bigger than that. In short, stay above-the-fray.
That's why you won't hear a peep from me about Bush's victory Tuesday, not a word on how Bush successfully beat back challenger John Kerry. That's according to a poll of over 110 million registered voters conducted Tuesday. The Democrats' inability to unseat the President -- despite having poured unprecedented amounts of money and manpower in their hopeless effort to topple the wartime leader -- must be quite a bitter pill to swallow. But, as I said, nary a word about it from me.
Here's what else my lips are sealed -- tightly sealed -- about: President Bush's very long coattails. On Tuesday, Republicans expanded their majority in Congress to 233 House seats, keeping the chamber in GOP hands for the sixth straight election. As for the Senate, more good news (which I refuse to mention). The GOP swept all five Democrat Southern seats -- South Carolina, North Carolina, Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia, crippling Democrats for years to come, but I'm not gonna gloat about that either.
I suppose I could gloat about the stunning Senate upset in South Dakota (but I won't). Not since Barry Goldwater's famed 1952 victory over Ernest McFarland had a Senate leader been toppled. Tom Daschle got his walking papers Tuesday, losing his bid for a fourth term to former GOP Congressman John Thune, but -- again -- you won't hear me gloat about it, or even mention it once. My lips are totally sealed.
Look at it this way: If I were gloating, wouldn't I mention how Bush is the first President in 16 years to win a majority of the popular vote? Wouldn't I be pointing out that Bush got nearly 4 million more votes than Kerry nation-wide? Clinton never got a majority of the popular vote, garnering just 43% in '92 and 49% in '96. Indeed, Bush got more votes than Clinton ever dreamed of getting. Of course I haven't mentioned any of this, nor will I; this is no time to gloat.
Oh, remember the torrent of media stories that angry voters in Florida, bent on revenge for 2000, were champing at the bit to even the score in 2004? Needless to say, there was little evidence of it Tuesday, much to media chagrin -- but I'm not gonna mention that either.
And if you thought I'd gloat about how wrong exit polling was Tuesday, you're mistaken. In fact, I won't even mention how an early batch had Bush losing in Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, you name it. I haven't gloated to date, and I'm not about to start now.
Oh, one more thing...
Congratulations, Mr. President!!! ;-)
And God bless the United States of America.
Anyway, that's...
My two cents

Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

It *was* torture. .45MAN stayed up until 3 am watching the returns and things were still not *definite* at that point. He got back up around 5 am and the cable/cable modem were down. I was *furious* when I got up!
The cable TV came back on at 11:40 am - just in time to hear that skerry conceded (yay!) but we were getting ready to go out for a 12:30 appointment. While we were out, we heard snippets of skerry's speech and President Bush's - sweet satisfaction! (((((Aqua)))))

I hate when that kind of stuff happens.Me, too. It really tries my patience. If Adelphia didn't have such a large monopoly in this area, you can be sure we'd give them the boot.

He's more of a Zell Miller Democrat and not a lefty socialist.......so I can forgive him (some). If he's anything like Zell he should have been punching that ballot hard for Dubya! I'm proud of Zell.

Just because the nation is going in the right direction, and that we are getting bigger and stronger than ever, you would think that I might gloat?Music to my ears! :)

Does one look less Lefty in funeral black? lol
If Naomi Wolf is any indication, the Left still don't and won't get it, especially with the evangelical moms who came out in droves for Bush. So blind to the truth.

There is no way he would admit voting for Dubya to ME!!!! We've known each other for 20 years, and he would never ever dream of letting me think I was able to sway him..........but he also never said he voted for kerry.
And since we were both on the same page about wanting to rid Delaware of the Dem governor there...........you never know.
Unfortunately neither of us got our wish in the Delaware race.........but then, neither of us live there any longer.
But now, after 22 years, I've worked my last Delaware election, especially on a pro-bono do a friend a favor basis.

The red is overwhelming!
Think the map I used in the opener was the map from the 2000 race. The results were so similar this time that I just had to paint in a lil red over Arizona and New Mexico in the paint shop.
