A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

No Gloating, Please!

by JohnHuang2

I admit it's tempting, deliciously tempting, especially after a grueling campaign as this, but I won't. Instead, I'm going to be magnanimous. In other words, if you're looking for gloating, you're looking in the wrong place. From published reports, I gather the White House has adopted a similar No-Gloat approach, and I think that's a good thing. Some of you might not agree -- what's wrong with a little gloating? -- but I think we've got to be bigger than that. In short,
stay above-the-fray.
That's why you won't hear a peep from me about Bush's victory Tuesday, not a word on how Bush successfully beat back challenger John Kerry. That's according to a poll of over 110 million registered voters conducted Tuesday. The Democrats' inability to unseat the President -- despite having poured unprecedented amounts of money and manpower in their hopeless effort to topple the wartime leader -- must be quite a bitter pill to swallow. But, as I said, nary a word about it from me.
Here's what else my lips are sealed -- tightly sealed -- about: President Bush's very long coattails. On Tuesday, Republicans expanded their majority in Congress to 233 House seats, keeping the chamber in GOP hands for the sixth straight election. As for the Senate, more good news (which I refuse to mention). The GOP swept all five Democrat Southern seats -- South Carolina, North Carolina, Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia, crippling Democrats for years to come, but I'm not gonna gloat about that either.
I suppose I could gloat about the stunning Senate upset in South Dakota (but I won't). Not since Barry Goldwater's famed 1952 victory over Ernest McFarland had a Senate leader been toppled. Tom Daschle got his walking papers Tuesday, losing his bid for a fourth term to former GOP Congressman John Thune, but -- again -- you won't hear me gloat about it, or even mention it once. My lips are totally sealed.
Look at it this way: If I were gloating, wouldn't I mention how Bush is the first President in 16 years to win a majority of the popular vote? Wouldn't I be pointing out that Bush got nearly 4 million more votes than Kerry nation-wide? Clinton never got a majority of the popular vote, garnering just 43% in '92 and 49% in '96. Indeed, Bush got more votes than Clinton ever dreamed of getting. Of course I haven't mentioned any of this, nor will I; this is no time to gloat.

Oh, remember the torrent of media stories that angry voters in Florida, bent on revenge for 2000, were champing at the bit to even the score in 2004? Needless to say, there was little evidence of it Tuesday, much to media chagrin -- but I'm not gonna mention that either.
And if you thought I'd gloat about how wrong exit polling was Tuesday, you're mistaken. In fact, I won't even mention how an early batch had Bush losing in Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, you name it. I haven't gloated to date, and I'm not about to start now.
Oh, one more thing...
Congratulations, Mr. President!!! ;-)
And God bless the United States of America.
Anyway, that's...
My two cents

LOL!! Now, you wouldn't be gloating, would you? ;-)

livvviiiid, that's a GRATE look for them!

It is hilarious listening to them agonize over where they went wrong. I'm loving it! I'm sure that over the next four years we can show them precisely where they went wrong.....and if they still trot out Hillary as their best hope, then they are a lost cause (which I am inclined to believe they are anyway). LOL

President Bush did a *GREAT* job giving underhanded jabs to the media during his press confernece today. They deserved *each and every one*!!

He did. Nost of them don't deserve getting the time of day out of him. They should be ashamed for the way they've treated him, but it's apparent they're not going to cut him ANY slack this time either.

I really think president Bush let it be known how *displeased* he is with them all. Let's hope that it got through to at least *one* of them - it would be a start.

I don't expect the buzzards to *play nice* over the next four years - any more than they have these past 4 years. That's why I don't support any of them and I am even getting cool towards FOX.

Since we're not gloating (*NOT*), here is something I received via email:

Things To Say To Democrats Now that Bush has won

You rushed to nomination without a plan to win the election.

Don't blame me, I voted for Nader.

Since Bush was selected in 2000, shouldn't he be able to run again in 2008?

Hey, at least your guy won the debates, huh?

Dean would've won.

What brand of dog food will your parents eat when Bush destroys Social Security?

Halt! Your papers, please...

Well, what do you know? There weren't as many of y'all as you thought!

You must have voted for Buchanan again.

Ha ha ha! That's two we've stolen now!

Now we're going after Kerry's senate seat.

Someday you'll thank me for this.

Don't worry!! You'll be drafted soon!!!

[Use earnest sounding voice]: Gosh, do you think maybe I shouldn't have voted for
Bush, after all? Maybe Kerry WAS the best choice.

I voted for Bush. You're welcome.

God has given us a reprieve.

We're just getting started.

You may not appreciate it, but your children will thank me.

Did you hear that all religious symbols are going to be replaced back from where
they were taken down?

And did you hear that George W. Bush, like Kerry, is instituting a "litmus
test" for all Supreme Court Justice Appointees? They have to be pro-life, and
anti-homosexual; welfare will be a thing of the past, and all churches will be allowed
to talk about politics and candidates to their hearts' content.

Hey, look at it this way...in "Outcome-Based Elections", coming in 2nd is really pretty good!

Well, not everyone can win all the time.

It's not the votes that counts, it's how you played the game.

There's always '08!

Want some champagne?

Were you one of those who voted for Kerry after you decided to vote against him?

Boy, you guys sure know how to pick a winner... Remind me never to listen to you at the race track. Seriously, what in blazes were you guys thinking with this botoxed dud? Oh yeah, he has three Purple Hearts, and the war vet always wins... And everyone loves a middle-aged candidate who snowboards and dresses like a teenager while doing it. And what a dynamic speaker!...

It's November 3rd, are you gonna vote today?

Don't jump!

Can I help pack your bags?

I hear France and Germany are looking for more leftist immigrants.

Air France flights 1192, 491, 288, 751, 216, now boarding...

Canada has universal health care.

Jeb in 2008!

You know, I think Kerry was just a few years ahead of his time. Seriously - You should nominate him again in 2008, and then you'll win for sure!

Yes, nominating Gore and then Kerry may both have been major mistakes. But you know how the old saying goes --- "Mistakes Are Oft Times the Stepping Stones to
Failure".

Mission Accomplished!

Bumper Sticker: "Mission Accomplished: '04 President-Elect George W. Bush!"

Don't cry, at least you get to keep your guns and hunt for four more years!

Well, I guess irrational hate wasn't enough after all.

I think it's time to repeal the twenty-second amendment so that W can be elected
four times - like FDR.

We're GLAD your MESSAGE got out THIS time!

Isn't Terry McCauliffe the classiest ... Wow, if they just would have run HIM for President"!

Well I'm so glad I voted absentee for Nader in (name narrowest Kerry-lost state).
Sure, 2 percent isn't much, but you gotta start somewhere.

All Your Electoral Votes Are Belong To Us!

Hey, aren't you supposed to be in re-education camp?

Better luck next time!

Imagine what you could have done with a real candidate. Someone people actually like.

Strategery Works!

I just love Ralph Nader, don't you?

No, I'm all out of rope. How about some cyanide?

My court's bigger than your court.

I voted once. How many times did you?

Man, am I tired! Been voting all day. Twice downtown, then once at the courthouse, then over to the north end of town, then .....

Here's your mandate!

Now that W has been elected a second time, may I have your tax cut check? After all, you don't want it!

Just think, we won't have to listen to more media spin of "what Kerry was trying to say...." or "Kerry meant to say...."

Should have canvassed a few more cemeteries.

Cheaters never win!

Thumb and index finger shaped in a L.

Stay down, or we'll do it again.

Got crow?

Would you like your dish of crow with, or without, Heinz 57?

YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET!

Yo - Mama_Bear!!
Maggie Malone here, looking for a dumb dem subject to interview, and found this guy:

"I just can't believe this happened...I mean, we had the formula to win - a blueblood war hero with A Plan so good he didn't dare articulate it, since the right wingers might have stolen it."

"Hey, lady - he said he was gonna gimme me a good job and health care and send my 8 children to college and pay for my dear Mum's nursing home care and never raise my taxes, for starters."

"He also was gonna rebuild all our blighted slummy cities and highways and transportation systems instead of wasting all those futile dollars drained away overseas fighting terrorists, who all hate us and are mean."

My question to him was the purpose of the latter:

"Won't that make those improvements just more tempting targets for the terrorists?"

Dumb dem: "HUH??"
"I don't get it--"

Nuff said ---
