"We are a very different country than we were 200 years ago," [Hillary] Clinton said. "I believe strongly that in a democracy, we should respect the will of the people and to me, that means it's time to do away with the Electoral College and move to the popular election of our president."

Senator Clinton is being consistent here.
She had the same position in 2000 as she does now.
Back then, of course, it looked opportunistic, because it was a way to get the Democrat in.
This time, it almost looks principled: no flip-flop here on her part. Her proposal would handily give the election to Bush. (But, of course, that is exactly the result she wants...)
Pure Democracy is mob rule and the founding fathers knew it. I guess if you are part of the mob that doesn't matter, though.
Let's remember, we have never exported our Electoral College System...Not in Japan when we democritized them, Not in Iraq when we democritized them, Not in Afganistan when we democritized them. Aside from being a concession when our constitution was made, it only works because both sides know the rules. Change the rules and Republicans are still smarter...Republicans will still win.
Wouldn't this make a great key point for her to push when running for President in '08?!!
Dems would never lose the Presidency if it changed to popular vote due to the conrol they have in these major cities and the fraud they can pull.
You may be right.
Yea, what ever happened to the clarion call of the popular vote? The Rats aren't calling for it now are they? Still examining... still examining. I thought with the 3.5 million vote advantage they would be the first to concede. (Insert laughing sarcasm here.)
Look again - this is an article from 2000. To my knowledge she hasn't repeated it this year.
Ole crusty made her say that....it wasnt her....
Make no mistake, democrats would like to do away with elections completely once they get elected.
Well, she also has called for the abolition of supportive undergarments, but most states agree that in spite of Ms. Clinton's demonstrated preference, this is a personal decision best left up to the individual.
We would have won anyway, bee-ach. No way are we getting rid of the EV. It protects us from the coasts!
Maybe we can use this against her in 2008.
I'll remember it....I had an argument about this last night. I love how uneducated liberals are.
It's precisely the Dem's grip on those major urban areas that makes abolishing the Electoral College an absolute disaster for them. In anything but a Republican landslide, they can count on taking all the electoral votes for CA, NY, and IL.
Hey Hilliary,,Shut the Hell up! You disgusting Fat Calfed
GORGONITE!
I will never forget the crimes of Your Past...And I have kept a file on you.
