IYHO, WHAT WAS KERRY'S BIGGEST MISCALCULATION?
11/3/04

Posted on 11/03/2004 4:41:04 AM PST by Liz

Clearly, the Kerry campaign machine paled next to the brilliant assault commanded by Bush and Karl Rove.

I would say the number one miscalculation was that the Kerry people severly underestimated the burning desire in the American electorate for the restoration of moral values.

It was significant---and redounded in Bush's favor---that ballot questions in 10-12 states to outlaw same sex marriages brought out committed Christians in droves.

These Christians came out to vote for traditional marriage and overwhelmingly drove the vote home for Bush.

Also significant was the Bush effect in Black churches ---normally Dim strongholds.

GWB's strong moral commitment resonated in those churches by strongly religious Black believers who wanted no truck with gay marriages. Our Black co-religionists had also been betrayed by Rev Jesse Jackson and his extra-marital fatherhood.

He let him get away with a lot of things. What kept driving me nuts was that so many people think Democrats can do a better job with the economy. We never attacked that misconception.

That he could fool ALL of the people ALL of the time.

There are a lot of dopes in this country, and a lot of cheats, and , thankfully, they have lost. The ONLY people that bought his Bull****were those who hate the right wing and those easily persuaded by fancy lies and pretty pictures...

Too close to big Ketchup, and being Kerry (flip-flop, Mass liberal, haughty, sub-zero charisma, grating voice etc..,).

Effing is so disconnected from reality that he thought everyone would accept his declaration that he was a Viet Nam War hero and forget about what he really did.

These Christians came out to vote for traditional marriage and overwhelmingly drove the vote home for Bush.

The Christians and the swift boat ads doomed Kerry from the first. Thanks to the Catholic Churches who supported "life" in a big way, and ignored their liberal leaders. I hope Bush remembers the Christian's support.

The DNC's miscalculations will be reserved for the weekend because I have a running tally, anyhow Kerry's major miscalculation was that he got into a knife fight with a gunslinger. Meaning, he challenged a Republican wartime incumbent on foreign policy and as the incumbent Democrat, he didn't shape the domestic policy issues.

He relied on the media bias and the poll bias' and started believing the lies.

I agree that the Swifties made the difference. One could argue that Kerry made a mistake making Vietnam and his (dis)service there the major talking point of his campaign. But what else did he have? His record? LOL

No problem about Bush forgetting Christian support......we ain't never gonna let him forget.

BTW, I thought one of Bush's smartest moves just before Nov 2 was to attend Mass in a Catholic church.

The resulting pic of GWB and Laura posed with a Catholic priest in Mass attire at the church door was juxtaposed with a pic of so-called Catholic Kerry standing alone.

What a powerful message that was.

Yep.

I think that Bush-Cheney '04 should sue the AP for trying to suppress the vote yesterday at 3 pm. I couldn't believe what they did.

That character doesn't matter in American politics.

And that a lot of media glitz could obscure the fact that he is simply a left-wing opportunist.

It was lost from the beginning. The Dems should have picked Dean.

No, they could have won with Clark. Kerry had very real skeletons in his closet.
