DIXIE Ping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard on the radio earlier that 1000 people were at the Madison courthouse this morning - I'll have to wait til I get off work to vote tonight. Where in AL are you located? What do you consider to be crucial on the ballot?
Each state is responsible for themselves. That means you have to start your own thread.
lol I noticed alabama's ommission...have you all seceded? ;)
Roll-Tide
Go Bush
No handouts!
My polling place (I vote at the same place as Jerimah Denton), was swamped. I spoke with one of the voting officials (I've known her 35 years), she said we had set a turn-out record by about 10:30 this morning. This is a strong Republican precinct...I predict a big win for GWB!
Mobile, Alabama, turnout is HEAVY pouring rain this morning and folks were in long lines with their umbrellas waiting to get into the building to get into the REAL line!!
The election official that I talked too said it is the heaviest turnout she's seen in over 20yrs
I met my mother, daughter and husband at our polling place and voted around 11:00. For the first time ever, we had to wait in an incredible line. Between the four of us we probably knew 90% of the folks there - all Bush/Cheney supporters. We were pleasantly surprised that an ID was required and I anticipate our county will go 70-30 for President Bush.
Long line at my polling place in Hoover. Took about 35 minutes to get through it. I was there at 6:50 and just lucked out finding a parking place. The parking lot looked like Wal Mart on the day after Thanksgiving.
Voted about 9 AM...out in the country in central Shelby County...much busyier than normal...there was a county sheriff deputy there.... Been voting here for 15 years and first time the law has been around...
I just got back from voting (in honor of Mr. Thomasset~!!!)
Y'all will not believe it, but here in Slapout, AL, for the first time in 10 years, I had to actually wait in line to cast my ballot. This is extremely significant (to me, at least), as in this tiny town on the most beautiful lake in the region, our voting district (Beat 14) has an history of voting for the winner. (Yes, they got mad at Daddy Bush and went for billary, I am so ashamed to say.)
Everyone who was there at the same time I was voting, was very proudly and loudly energized for W. Talk about a happy moment...it was one of my most memorable.
My prediction - Alabama for W @ 80% and W wins it by a 3.5 to 5% margin nationwide.
Harvest, Alabama here (suburb of Huntsville). Stopped to vote this morning on the way to work. At 7:15 there were 400-500 people in line outside the building. INCREDIBLE early voting.
I stopped back by about 1:00. A line of 40-50 people were ouside, with another 75-100 in line inside the building.
I'll go back later.
This is Bush country so W should win BIG here in Madison County.
War Eagle
Go Bush
from Clark county, AL
Just finished voting in Helena. Huge turnout in the rain, but not a bad wait as they had anticipated this and set up extra tables and chairs. Over 3k votes in my precinct - I believe this is a record and we haven't even hit the post-work surge yet. BTW, this area can aptly be described as Broken Glass Republican.
And, to illustrate the value of a good education, my daughter's Christian school held a mock election today. Results: Bush 141, Kerry 3, Nader 1. I supplied a life-sized W cutout and we had to hang around after school for all of the kids, parents and teachers to finish having their pictures taken with W.....
Smith Station has about 600 people standing in line right now, according to my husband who is standing in that line.
I was about #80 at my polling place in north Tuscaloosa county at 8:30. Poll workers were saying that is close to the most that have ever voted there in one day. No doubt about this area going for Bush, and it looks the word was out on amendment 2.
