***Operation 4 More Years - Situation Room - Day 1 - LIVE THREAD***
Various | 2 November 2004 | Various

Posted on 11/02/2004 2:48:56 AM PST by An.American.Expatriate

As I and many of my fellow expatriates are often hard pressed to get any non-biased information from the media (we are often stuck with CNN-International!!), I have decided to start this thread in the tradition of the Operation Iraqi Freedom Situation Room threads.  I hope this meets with the approval of Jim & John and the Admin guys . . .

The purpose of this thread is to be a place to collect information from all sources into one area for discussion.  Specific threads for specific topics and cross linking are highly encouraged.

Or, how 'bout Susan Estrich foaming at the mouth and/or Tucker Carlson hanging himself with his bowtie

"Sorry, the voting machine broke. You'll have to use a paper ballot."

"Hmm, well, ok. May I have a pen?"

"No, we only have one pen. You'll have to wait."

- Election Day 2004, New York City, 6:30 AM

(polls opened at 6)

Voted absentee from Iraq October 3. Most of my co-workers did so around the same time and, gee, coincidentally, we all voted for the same candidate.

Maybe it's because we all work for The Eeeeevil Halliburton.

Just pulled my lever for 4 MORE YEARS!

LOL! For a second there I misread your post as saying: "Just pulled my lever 4 MORE TIMES!"

I came back from voting less than a half hour ago. I live in Fairfax County in Northern Virginia, in Congressman Moran's district. I waited about half an hour to vote. The line was pretty long. I was surprised, since I got there shortly after the polls opened at 6 am. One person in the line said he had never seen the line this long at 6 am.
People waiting to vote weren't really talking to each other too much, other than guiding people to the right line, since two precincts vote at the same school. The Republican and Democrat volunteers were out front as usual, passing out fliers and putting up signs. The Republican volunteer passing out fliers was this American of Asian decent, and I gave her a compliment as I was coming out of the school. I didn't see any people in my age group (18-30), it was mostly people in their 30's or older.

I voted absentee in Loudoun County, Virginia. I thought I was going to be away on a business trip, but it was cancelled. It's a shame, I feel a little "left out" today this will be the first election I haven't actually voted at the polling place.

Oh well, I'll try to share in everyones election day experiences and console my self with the knowledge that I DID vote for President Bush...

I voted as the polls opened at 6:00 in Norwalk, CT. No agitators at my polling place. There were about 50 people in line, and it took about 10 minutes to vote. From what I could tell, folks were in good humor and proud to be there.

One good thing about this Election Day is there is NO COMPLACENCY here. I detected a little bit of that leading into the 2000 Election.

>Virginia could be worth watching, too.

If I miss my guess, Kerry won't even get close in my state. In my area, there are lots and lots of B/C bumper stickers, and in my trip to the Tidewater area this weekend, the preponderance of B/C signs was making me positively giddy.

I agree, Virginia will be worth watching.

Most likely because CT is not a battleground state. It will be a different story in the battleground states.

I voted at 6:45AM here in a little town in Atlantic County, NJ, My last name begins with a W and the line I was standing in had already recorded 250 votes. The other lines had recorded 50 and 75 votes.

One nice touch, I had given my Bush/Cheney yard sign to a friend that lived right next door to the polling place. He had it up in his yard as I drove up. The last sign any of the voters would see before voting.
