From The Belly Of The Beast

As promised, here is the after action report on my Central San Rafael solo freep tonight.

For those not in the know, Marin County is ground zero in the war on the mental disorder known as liberalism. We are what the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge is attached to.

Some of our more infamous citizens include Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Sean Penn and none other than Johnny Jihad Walker Lindh. Yes that's right!, the same Taliban Johnny now doing 20 years up the stony lonesome courtesy of Federal Prosecutors. Read this precursor thread that I posted prior to stepping into this fray.

I am a life long Marin resident and this is my County. I was born and raised here and my first presidential election vote was for Reagan in '80. I have been, am and will continue to be Conservative. I will not yield to the false promises of prosperity and security pedaled by the left wing ilk of my county for they can provide neither. I live in a nest of vipers. I am an aberration. I am pissed off and will never give in. Enough rant...on to the report.

I arrived early enough and found a single liberal getting ready and set up. She was packing several different signs supporting a measure outlawing genetically modified foods and research in our county. At first when I walked up she greeted me pleasantly, but when she saw what my 4 x 8 sign read she turned as white as ghost. I immediately moved into the strategic location and staked my ground.

This street corner is 'owned' by the left. Every Friday it has throngs of left wing protestors. I got their early enough and did so purposely to irritate them. I knew they would be their and wanted the biggest Bush Cheney sign I could get my hands on to destroy their moral and drive them away. They will be back tomorrow and so will I. They will be crushed by the Uber Bush Cheney sign.

Within minutes after she had recovered from the shock of the Uber Sign and the visible trembling had ceased, she demanded that I choose another street corner. Of course I refused and pointed out it was a free country, and it was armed conservative citizens like myself that would ensure it stays that way. Her expression wreaked of contempt, and no rebuttal or fresh appeal was forthcoming. I offered up a rhetorical question: "Your not against free speech are you?"

The moment I took up position I started getting responses, from salutary to downright vulgar and hateful. By in large the response was more and more positive as the afternoon wore on into evening. All of the hard working folks were coming home.

The dissenters were abundant and vociferous. I was flipped off at least 100 times, cursed endlessly, called a Nazi 5 times, told to "F" bush and spit at 3 times from passing cars. Each and every time I was jeered, I would give a thumbs up or wave, and on several occasions blew kisses back to women who were nothing short of seething with their hatred. From shaking heads of disapproval, to outright threats...I saw it all.

The liberal women was joined by 6-8 of her friends later on. They eventually gave up the corner and went to a far less tactically advantageous location. They couldn't compete and they were pissed off. There was a guy guy dressed in a bunny costume who cursed and tried to goad me into engaging him. I just kept telling him 'I love you man'...'Thank you for sharing'...his irritation was palpable to say the least...he slinked away as his group gave up choice ground.

Those in support of Bush were nothing less than both amazing and surprising in several regards. Ages ranged from 8 to 80, and the look of appreciation was clear. They were great looking people too...normal looking. From business people to moms with a car load of kids...and the babes!...I have never had so many beautiful women honk, smile, wink and blow kisses...I was blown away! Guys I kid you not...total babes...

Some stopped, rolled down the window and thanked me...telling me how important it was for them to see me on that corner tonight. "Thank you for being here...thank you for speaking for me...Finally!...God Bless You!...you have courage man!". Many many supporters were also contractors [like me]. They had their trucks with their racks and tools...and had worked hard to put food on their families table this day. I can say this...Marin County Contractors will go Bush in a landslide...

I was given the thumbs up by the majority of African Americans. Both men and women. The one black fellow who did flip me off looked so terribly angry. I smiled and waved and gave him a thumbs up. Hispanics were unanimously for Bush. I am sure there were some hispanic folks, probably lots of them who are not pro-Bush, but not a single one of them ever gave me a thumbs down or negative gesture...they remained silent.

Before it was all said and done, I was joined by 2 ladies, and 3 gentleman. They had stopped several blocks away and walked back to support Bush. They all were shocked when they saw me on the liberal corner and no liberals were in site. One fellow brought a flag with him, and that seemed to really get the pro Bush honks and thumbs up cranking along. One fellow was blown away by all the pro Bush honking and gesturing...shocked even. Those who joined me promised to try and join me again tommorow...as I will be back at it in the morning and the evening.

I will try to get more pictures to tell a more thorough story tomorrow evening.

We live in a wonderful place...but actually I am in Rocklin and we have a few 'Dead-Enders" around here.

Outstanding my friend......simply outstanding. I live over in the East Bay in Walnut Creek but my parents lived over in Novato for about 9 years. We are all Republicans but I always laughed when my Dad talked about Marin, the land of peacock feathers and hot tubs........lol......kind of like Bezerkeley with alot more money. The land of Birkenstocks. Hey, there truely are alot of Republicans over here, they just get shouted out by the San Francisco libs but we are here...........and in fact most people don't realize what others said; you get out of S.F., Oakland, Bezerkeley and Los Angeles and California is alot more conservative cause most of the state at least demographically is farmers in the central valley, down home folk north of Santa Rosa etc......just like fly over states. Here's to your enthusiasm and courage, it is much appreciated and admired

If I still worked in San Rafael (by the Richmond Bridge) I'd have joined you. In 2000, there was a big Bush/Cheney sign close to where I worked and it was gone in a couple of days. I've seen a few of the lawn signs up in Novato, where I live and suprised they haven't disappeared.

Great job!!! Enjoy that beer too, you earned it!

Hey, I know that corner well! I lived within blocks of there for many years. (Moved to SF in 1968, when the City was still conservative, believe it or not.) People coming off the 101 from San Francisco have to drive right by there. Some of the people calling you names and being obscene are probably even friends of mine from a past life. You are Very, Very brave. Kudos to you and stay safe tomorrow.
(I moved out of there for Montana a couple of years ago now.)

My dad was in San Fran in 1969 after getting out of the army. Told me it was filled with Hippie freaks back then. Conservative? Maybe in the Richmond area back then...

You are not alone.

That big Bush sign on that very street corner, a corner normally owned by the enemy was huge breath of fresh air for many many repressed conservatives in Marin...

We took the enemy ground and held it.

Being a spectator is no longer an option.

(PS--as far as the pro-Bush chicks being total babes--I've taught my 15 year old son to tell the difference between a liberal chick and a conservative. Liberal chicks are ugly and have no sense of humor. Conservative gals are good looking and have great personalities. He's used this bit of wisdom -and Mom, you're right)
