(New Haven-WTNH, Oct. 29, 2004 10:00 PM) _ Muslim-Americans are fearful of the possible fallout from the Osama bin Laden tape. Muslim leaders in New Haven are worried the tape could make them targets of intolerance.
"It's just disheartening."
New Haven's Islamic leaders reject Osama bin Laden and his message. In a newly released video the terrorist leader ties Muslim security to American security. Those threats are not accepted by American born Muslims.
"To speak about security and threatening people, I think that anyone who as we said has a heart alive and feels for humanity would shake their head at reading statements like that," says Dawood Yasin.
Yasin is the prayer leader for the Masjid Al-Islam Mosque in New Haven. His mosque was vandalized this week during the holy month of Ramadan. They already feel like targets. They say this new video doesn't help anyone.
"We have Muslims who are killing innocents, Christians who are killing innocents, and Jews who are killing innocents," says Dr. Jimmy Jones, Educational Coordinator for Masjid al-Islam. "Can we take the moral high ground for once."
The Muslims we spoke are concerned about the death toll that the war on terror has taken on Americans and foreigners. They're hoping whomever sits in the Oval Office after November 2nd uses restraint in protecting our country.
Always whine and blame others.
Kinda hard to do there, Jimmy, considering the source of your teachings is pretty much devoid of morality.
targets of intolerance... Liberal talking point...
Our country? I surely bet they want someone who will use "restraint"...namely Kerry - VOTE BUSH!!!!
Dr. Jimmy, who started all this? Who's at the root of the problem, Dr. Jimmy? You know you'd like to say the Jews, but you know the time's not quite ripe for that, eh Dr. Jimmy? You anti-Semitic piece of trash.
I try to love everyone, but I hope and trust President Bush will not "use restraint" in protecting this country. Altogether too much "restraint" was shown by the last administration.
I would say that the members of Islam who live in the USA need to figure out where they place their "earthly" loyalty.
Is it to the county they live and work in? I would say not. I would say that they place their loyalty first to their religion. Since their religion has been stolen by the likes of OBL I would say that they either need to clean their house or face the fact that they are the enemy.
What say you, the people of the peaceful religion of Islam? Do you stand with us or with them?
Hey, wait a minute, isn't that the same guy who made 900 people drink poisoned koolaid about 26 years ago in Guyana?
So he escaped and now he's a Muslim. Who'da thunkit?
And how many times have these Muslim leaders come out publicly against the terrorists and denounced their activities. The voice of the Muslim community has been dissapointingly silent on this. They will scream discrimination, racial profiling, or whatever, but do they do anything to fight the real villians here?
Where is this going on? What organization currently sponsors the killing innocents in the name of Christ?
More like Crybaby Alert.
"You are with us, or against us."
Uh, Jimmy, I think you've got your facts twisted up a bit.
Shows how little the understand American's... they think we'd react badly because they WOULD act badly in the same situation.
Would these idiots PLEASE put a sock in it? Even in the wake of 9/11, there were only 47 confirmed cases of intolerance towards Muslims and a load of faked "hate crimes" that Muslims were committing against themselves to drum up sympathy from Liberals.
Give it a rest, morons. And stop harboring terrorists and terrorist sympathizers in your mosques while you're at it.
Religion of Pieces.
"What organization currently sponsors the killing of innocents in the name of Christ?"
The only one I can think of is "Catholics for Kerry"
You're right of course. There is no authentic Jewish or Christian organisation that does this, but plenty of all-too-authentic Muslim ones.
