I just came from the Baederwood Theatre in Abington, PA where "Stolen Honor" was to be shown to an expected full-house. Upon arrival I was told that the theatre canceled the show due to called in threats of violence.
There were about 100 people milling around outside the theatre, mostly Bush supporters, when I arrived. The Bushies were rightly indignant that we couldn't see the film and the sKerry supporters were almost gleeful in their posturing.
One "vet for Kerry" was getting in the faces of many of the Bush supporters, and had to be separated by the police more than once. There were three television news crews recording the skirmishes between the two camps, and reporters jotting down their stories.
The filmmaker, Carlton Sherwood, was there and gave on-camera interviews. The reporters also took about a dozen interviews from both sides of the fence.
There was about a dozen "Vets For Kerry" there, most of them wearing uniforms. I noticed the cops making faces to them as if to say "aren't these Bush supporters a bunch of wankers?" There was one young man (about 19) holding a sign "jingoism doesn't work." Talk about a wanker.
The "Stolen Honor" people handed out DVDs and videos to anyone who wanted one.
This will be a big story on the local news tonight because of all of the heated arguments captured on film. For all in the Delaware Valley viewing area, Channel 6 News stuck around the longest. I'll post any articles from the local papers tomorrow.
Im afraid you might be right AP
"Good grief! A business decision not to show the film is the owner's right."
Albeit this is true, the issue here is not necessarily the unknown reason(s) for cancelling the film. In my thinking it has more to do with the double standard of these people. I would imagine there were also protests about the showing of F/911. I'm curious as to whether this same owner showed fatman Moore's hypocumentary.
Yeah.
Like some, I'm not as ready as I'd like to be (more than I need, not as many as I want), but the librat socialists will never be able to out think me.
I run on thought, not emotion.
Don't ask what they use for dye, you DON'T wanna know.
Yep.
I just have this gut feeling ive never been so upest over a single election in my life the dems are to close to communism and way to close to winning with a schlub like kerry the country will hit the toilet quick all with the blessing of the UN !
I'm waiting for a band of four Dims top roam down my street with their 'massive numbers' (all four of their bravest thugs) and try to start crap outside.
My area may be overwhelmingly liberal, but most ofthem aren't stupid beyond belief.
Reading that thread over at DemUn though...
...there's one guy who has designs on meeting God, whom he probably doesn't believe in.
If SKerry is elected THIS will be the future of the USA! The left will try to intimidate the country into submission.
"How is this different from that tactics of the Brownshirts in Germany, circa 1934?"
No discernable difference.
Clinton almost put American in the gutter...we've done a good job of almost coming back to the good America we knew when we were growing up...if Kerrys crowd of trash and homos and godless losers take charge...we're lost and not only by terrorist attacks....
Im tired of being polite.....its time to kick behinies and stand up for our principals....Im tired of them dogging us.....
This is precisely the point that should be driven home by this debacle.
The left only hides under the skirt of the Constitution and they are with the war in Iraq.(for the troops and against the war)
Liberals are social leeches that gain strength from the hard work and sweat of patriots, and have no clue as to what the words really mean.
Progressive my ass! The only thing progressive about them is their headlong dive in to the sewer of human failings.
JERK OFFS
What are these people so afraid of. We didn't have riots outside F911.
Wow, a business decision. Seems to me that a theatre owning IS NOT liable for the content of the films it shows. If it was, I would sue the theatre everytime a sex-filled, violence-laden preview before a film that is targetted to youth. I'd be laughing all the way to the bank.
This theatre made a calculated decision that it would receive more publicity, more revenue by creating a controversy and caving to the modern day BrownShirts. It's not about a business decision, it's about that allows its decisions to be made due to political pressure. This is why there was a first amendment created.
Especially when Sinclair will likely make the special available via streaming video on the Internet.
Imagine how the general public would react having seen the video and the reaction from the violence-prone intimidators. Not to mention their reaction to the mainstream media spinning the facts and context.
The emperor's new clothes suddenly takes on new meaning. After all, "he" will be wearing the same naked out fit, but it will be the general public that finally has their eyes pried open.
