Rasmussen faces the same reality that Newsweek did. The debate ends way too late on the East coast to poll there. I don't know how our support distributes in the east because the Northeast would be strong Kerry and the South strong Bush, but if there's a Bush advantage in that time zone, Rasmussen would miss it in that 5% polled after the debate. California then could skew.

Best not to obsess over that and just await tomorrow, which will have tonight's sample.

Overall, this is looking like debates don't matter. The polling results were returning to their settle point regardless of intervening events.

Maybe someone ought to give Fox News a clue.

A good dip in the ratings is the only thing to wake them up. They made me so sick a short while ago I had to change the channel.

Yeah, whassup with them? The Fox "All-Stars"? From the way they were talking, you'd a thunk they were watching the 1st debate, not what we saw last night! They were gloomy, critical, annoyed-looking. I expect that from the "opposition" on the panel, but not from our so-called friends there. I can't figure out if they genuinely thought W did junk, are purposely being unjustly critical in a misguided attempt to be "fair," or have gone to the dark side.

Well, I admit it is a small difference, but he is referring to three days of polling when he says 95%, therefore, yesterdays polling had about 15% post debate polling. Also, since Oct. 6 and 7 were down in the 47.5% range, Oct. 8 had to have been over 49% already. Interesting why the surge. Maybe it was just the end of the Kerry's first debate bounce, and people are once again realizing Kerry sucks.

As of October 7th; Rasmussen lists the following eleven
states as 'swing' states (too close to call):
Colorado
Iowa
Maryland
Michigan
Minnesota
Nevada
New Jersey
New Mexico
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Wisconsin
(from table found here)

I have been disappointed with Fox for awhile. They seem to be trying respond to their critics by changing their philosphy a bit.

Online polls are unscientific. News orgs rely on them because they are too cheap and too lazy to hire pollsters. Real pollsters are relied upon by the MSM because they're too lazy to leave the cubicle to get the facts.

Here's my take on the news cycle as a sort of food chain/cycle of life analysis.

1)Facts/omnivores and carnivores top of the chain

2)Traditional news gathering techniques/herbivores giving birth

3)Newspapers & magazines/sick baby wildabeast

4)Pollsters using unbiased Q&A methods/Dung beetle rolling ball dung up a hill with hind legs

5)Online polls/Elephant dung

6)O'Tool (Kerry's Irish waterboy) & Co reporting online polls as fact/Dung beetle dung

7)TV and radio newsrooms reporting on O'Tool's take on the online poll/Rotting flesh/maggots

8)Shitake mushrooms growing on rotting maggots/Dan Rather

9)Aljazeera and Reuters reporters setting traps on Coalition for photo-ops/salted earth

10)Michael Moore and Josef Goebbels/volcanic ash in the upper atmoshphere blotting out all light.

I do have a question was there the usual doom and gloomers here last night??

Not that I noticed. Almost entirely upbeat, and with good reason. Dubya took sKerry to the wood shed. :P

"Then the headline needs to be changed to "Cheney bounce." The Bush bounce will soon follow"

That is exactly right!! This is the CHENEY bounce!! America finally got to see the real Cheney, unflappable, dignified, in control. America got to see a not-ready-for-primetime Edwards. Dick Morris called him a deer caught in the headlights. Remember, Kerry's health may be important..we do not want Edwards so close to the Presidency.

Not a good week for Teresa "Shove It" Ketchup.

Over at DU they are calling this the "Mad Dog" debate performance by Bush. Talking about how the totally "lost it". About how he "charged" Charlie Gibson.

You know, I kind of agree with them that Bush was a "mad dog" last night. He was mad at all the lies Kerry has been telling for months, and decided he wasn't going to take it anymore. Kerry is a big "girly man" for sure. He says "bring it on", and then immediately cries when Bush or the vets do. Yea, they are upset with Bush. Because for the first time in the debates, Bush called KErry on HIS record. And oh, they have just started on Kerry's liberal record. That will be the Bush campaign emphasis over the next 3 weeks.

It would seem that Bush received $85 in 2000 from a lumber company for some kind of transaction (probably related to the ranch). This amount would make him a small businessman in the lumber business.

actually said "John Edwards and I are for tort reform," and told the American people that lawsuits against doctors are 1% of the health care problem;

this was the big whopper that even backwards hats liberals with arrows shot through the brain can dig

Kerry's comments about tort reform will kill him.

POTUS has excellent campaign material.
