THE POWER TO DESTROY 'Man tax' to pay for abuse of women? Swedish lawmakers propose fee to pay societal cost of male violence

Swedish lawmakers have proposed a new tax on those who happen to be men that would go to paying the societal costs of abuse toward women.
The idea by the Parliament's Left Party was to be debated this week, reported the London Daily Telegraph. The paper cites an Amnesty International report earlier this year that found violence against women increased almost 40 percent in the nation during the 1990s and that 20 to 40 women are battered to death in Sweden each year.
"It must be clear to all we have a gigantic social problem and cost in men's violence toward, women and we must discuss how we are going to pay for it," Gudrun Schyman, the party's former leader, told the paper.
"We have to have a discussion so that men understand that they have a collective financial responsibility."
The Left Party has 30 members in the 349-seat Swedish Parliament and supports the Social Democratic minority government. The party proposes setting up a task force to determine the cost of treating women victims of violence and then coming up with a tax level for the nation's men.
The Telegraph reported that while the fate of the measure is unknown, 45 percent of the legislative body is female, the highest proportion in any parliament in the world.
Reuters reports Sweden already has the highest taxes in the European Union as a percentage of gross domestic product, as it struggles to pay for its cradle-to-grave welfare program.
In a speech in 2002, Schyman claimed discrimination in Sweden followed "the same pattern" as in Afghanistan under the Taliban.

Somehow I think this increase in violent crimes against European women may have more to do with a demographic shift that is characterized by increasing numbers of men coming from places wherein women are regarded as livestock. But no! Let's just tax all of the men!
In
Norway women are expected to put up with this also rather than the immigrant men adapting the ways of civilized society:
...So Muslim immigrants to Norway should be made aware that things are a little different in Scandinavia? Not at all! Rather, the professor insisted, "Norwegian women must take their share of responsibility for these rapes" because their manner of dress would be regarded by Muslim men as inappropriate. "Norwegian women must realize that we live in a multicultural society and adapt themselves to it." Or to modify Queen Victoria's wedding-night advice to her daughter: Lie back and think of Yemen...

I have no problem with men in this country who abuse women being forced to provide financial assistance, through a 3rd party, to them while the men are locked up in cold cell (where they belong). But to tax ALL men is pretty stupid.

Imagine a republican or conservative say in the press,
American women neeed to take some responsibility for their rapes for dressing the way they do...
How long do you expect would such an idiot have before impeachment and before the death threats began..
I can't believe that someone can be that stupid...

This guy might be on to something!
Tax segments of society with a propensity to create a particular social ill.
Maybe we in America should heavily tax the poor. That the poor have a propensity to that particular social ill of being poor is axiomatic. One gets less of what one taxes.
The time has come to tax the poor out of existence.

Scandinavia - a laboratory for observing the effects of end-stage liberalism. What a total hellhole.

"We have to have a discussion so that men understand that they have a collective financial responsibility."What more is there to understand than that this is a completely meritless idea proposed by special interests suffering from collectivist mania?

There was a thread about Mexicans going to Europe, the Netherlands IIRC. Good question!

Have they rigged toilet seats so they don't stay up in Sweden? That's about the mental level that society is at.

Europe is being bred out. It is not only immigration, it is the relative birthrates of those of European descent compared to their prolific immigrant guests. From the linked article in my first post:
"...Islam For All reported the other day that, at present demographic rates, in 20 years' time the majority of Holland's children (the population under 18) will be Muslim. It will be the first Islamic country in western Europe since the loss of Spain. Europe is the colony now...
...in the case of those Muslim ghettoes in Sydney, in Oslo, in Paris, in Copenhagen and in Manchester, multiculturalism means that the worst attributes of Muslim culture -- the subjugation of women -- combine with the worst attributes of Western culture -- licence and self-gratification..."

I find that whole Norske comment odd, considering that Norway is a very racist country. Yeah, their governement lets these people in, but the general population would rather see anyone with brown skin forcefully exported than acccept "responsibility" for the way they dress.

As to your question, I don't know, but the problem lies in the social cost of this immigration. With socialized health care and security, most of the immigrants in Norway are total freeloaders and have learned from previous relatives who have relocated exactly how to take advantage of the system. To the detriment of naturalized Norwegians, the government supports these people with apartments, living expenses, education, reeducation if needed, and even gov. supported loans so that they can start their own businesses. On the other hand, a naturalized Norwegian is just taxed to death to support the cost.
America better wake up because we are heading down the same road. The immigrant situation in America is nearing an epidemic and the government is getting only more accommodating in the spirit of humanity. Where does that all lead, millions of leaches (more than we already have) on the system, and higher taxes on those who are productive and not out to take advantage to pay for it.
Norway and many other EU countries are so far along down that road that there is nearly no possibility for reversal from the nanny state. Will America learn from their mistakes before it is too late??? We knew the difference from freedom and serfdom 230 years ago? Why are we bound and determined to give it away without a fight now??

No - not never mind. The taxes are horrendous. How does from 28 - 52% strike you. Last year I paid 36% of my gross income in income taxes, this year 39%. I have a friend that does not have his own business, (less deductions) and last year he paid 46% of his gross. Add that to a 24% sales tax on ALL goods and services, $5.00 per gallon in gasoline and a 2004 Jeep Cherokee costing $105,000 at the dealer, and you have a real mess. Sorry if I offend any Norwegians reading this but Norway SUCKS.

Sorry, I was trying a little humor to lighten things up. But I realize that actuallly LIVING in a horrendous system like you describe is no laughing matter.
My first reaction to this man tax was like how absurd can you get?
My sympathies to you and yours mon.

I'll agree with this "man tax" provided they tax just as heavily those women who keep returning to abusive men.
Takes two to tango. Not that the feminazis appreciate this, mind you...
