The image isn't flipped. I enlarged and lightened it and you can see the ring. He also parts his hair on the left side.

Sorry, folks. Hate to burst the bubble on this one, but I've seen the photo of him saluting at his speech at the convention ad nauseum. He did the salute with his right hand. (The photo above seems to be from the convention...he's wearing the same tie...it's not easy to forget...it's RED for one thing! Wouldn't you think he'd wear a BLUE tie?)

I can't stand Kerry, but, come on-- it's not as though he's doing a military salute.That's the point - he isn't entitled to receive any salute as a US Senator. He is mocking the US military to even receive or think of rendering one, and then to do such bullsh*t LEFT-HANDED salute is TOTALLY DISRESPECTFUL towards our military men and women! This guy is dispised by most military personnel.

He can salute his supporters any way he wants. Left hand, right hand, Sicilian salute...
At first I thought the photo was a fake. It looked a little like the hand was just out there in space. Something like a cut and paste job, there just isn't enough contrast. I opened it in MS paint and did a color inversion...he looks creepy, but it is his arm.
