Good morning and thanks for the service, as usual. Sorry the down time will make this thread harder this morning.

Just watched the debate between Dr. Coburn and Brad Carson.

Dr. Coburn clearly won!

Brad Carson was outmatched!

Carson has voted against the Oklahoma Delegation 400 times!

Good on you, Alas. You're quick on the switch. FYI, Kate O'Beirne of NRO is supposed to be on the panel of MTP, but probably not for her great conservative thought, but because she dared to be critical of W's debate performance.

The bits and pieces I've seen of net news and morning shows is disgraceful. They'll do anything to discredit Pres. Bush. 30 days left of this BS.

I hope someone asks if Kerry's Senate no-shows are due to
  1. his laziness or
  2. his fear of voting in a way that alienates independents.

I'm not watching today, I haven't the stomach for it. Besides, I've already heard the spin. But I'll read the threads, thanks to your reliability :o)

Thanks for posting this thread, Alas. I'm watching Fox News Sunday now. They're debating who won the debate.

Another current thread from the Manchester Union Leader says the question is not 'Who won the debate?', but rather, 'Who made more sense?'. He gives examples of Kerry talking in circles:

>Nuclear proliferation is the biggest problem facing the Unitd States, and yet we shouldn’t have invaded Iraq, even though I believed the intelligence showing Saddam had weapons of mass destruction.

>This war is a mistake, but no, the men and women dying in Iraq are not dying for a mistake. We shouldn’t “outsource” the fighting to non-American troops in Afghanistan, and yet we should be using more European troops to fight in Iraq.

>This is the wrong war and the wrong time, and yet I’ll be able to convince the French and Germans to join this wrong war at the wrong time.

>I’ll never let anyone veto a pre-emptive action by the United States, yet pre-emptive action must pass the “global test” first.

>It’s best to have a coalition assembled when facing down an enemy, but I want to deal one on one with North Korea, instead of multilaterally with China, Japan, Russia and South Korea on our side.

I'm amazed....if you "win" the debate, you should be president.

What's all this campaiging about?

Everybody's LOVING the Newsweek poll...as predicted, the MSM is just giddy and all smiles.

Thanks for the thread.

Tad Devine!!!

Every time I see that name... it's so dorky.

It sounds like one of the movie star names of the fifties ... like Tab Hunter,Rock Hudson, etc.

Well, at least Rock Hudson sounded kinda manly. Of course, as it turned out ...

But Tab and Tad. Puleeze.

We were discussing the debates, the media, and the election yesterday at my bible study. A very intelligent and reflective man said that God has a plan for one of these two men to be the President for the next 4 years.

The media is giddy with the opportunity to try to resuscitate a Kerry campaign that has been on life support for 2 months. I am confident that God’s plan will prevail.

Going into the next debate, the media have now clearly made GW Bush the underdog. That was their first mistake.

Their second mistake is underestimating Kerry’s arrogance and hubris. He is now going to believe he actually is even or ahead in this race, and that will be his downfall. He cannot help being a selfish jerk and pompous windbag. He will alienate the American people, and he will do it quickly.

Okay folks, Got the Best, the absolutest BEST, political exchange of the day. Saw it with mine own eyes and heard it with mine own ears.

Christopher Dodd(d) and John Warner (R) having a little discussion on Wolf Blitzer. Talk comes around to Kerry's grand faux-pas during last week's debate about passing a "global test".

Dodd says that Bush jr should have gotten a great coalition together like his Dad did in '91. "Of course that wasn't pre-emption," Dodd said, "but it's the standard". I paraphrase slightly here.

So Warner says he doesn't know why Dodd is mentioning the 91 Gulf war when both Dodd and Kerry voted against it. BINGO for Warner.

Then Dodd goes on trying to explain Kerry's freudian slip about that global test thing. Warner interupts him and says 'You shouldn't have to 'interpret' what the man said. Kerry said what he said."

Then Dodd disavows he is 'interpreting' but it is obvious what Kerry 'MEANT' YES, Dodd used THAT very word....hahahahaha. Now Dodd is telling us what Kerry meant, paint me blue and put me on a stick. Then denies he is INTERPRETING!

What a great exchange.

I try to imagine Dodd and Kennedy and their 'waitress sandwich' and I get ill.

Let me get in a plug for my Blog, which is posted everyday to Free Republic in the "Blogger" section.

Monday's entry is always titled "The Week Just Passed" and is self-explanatory. I always include a link to this thread and tomorrow's entry is a Blockbuster if I do say so myself. Including my take on last week's debate and how the cyberspace Bloggers handed the Dems their happy talking point this week that Bush 'won' that debate.

Check it out tomorrow morning, assuming the site is up and running.
