In Your Opinion...

In your opinion, how did the debates go? Did Kerry get the upperhand (yeah right) or did Bush come out strong?

Also, was it just me, or did Kerry seem a little too prepared for those questions? Kerry usually trips over himself whenever he has to answer something, but he glided through this.

Ditto. (But the thought that Kerry had those questions beforehand did cross my mind about a third of the way in...)

Bush stumbled and bumbled all night. This time he under-estimated Kerry rather than the other way around.

He clearly thought painting Kerry as inconsistent was all he needed to do to win tonight. Calling Kerry a flip-flop got old after 20 minutes, and he had nothing else for the other 60.

"He bloviated"

Hey,that's one of my favorite words...and yes,Kerry did alot of that.He seems very full of himself.Sure, maybe a smoother bloviator than most but no facts to back up his message.

The President on the other hand did miss a few opportunities...but was steadfast in his stance.A secure America and no global view will decide what we do or how we defend ourselves!

Given Kerry's record in the Senate, I don't believe Kerry believed what he was saying. He tried to come across as more hawkish that Bush, and certainly more hawkish than his record would support. I can't imagine that Kerry's dovish supporters will be happy with what they heard from him.

Every thing Kerry did was nothing more than Monday morning quarterbacking.

So, I wasn't the only one who thought Kerry seemed to ready for the questions. Something doesn't smell right?

I liked the way Bush looked into the camera when he spoke. Kerry never did that.

Actually, we tend to be much harsher on our own guys. I was watching it as someone who was making his or her decision solely on the debate. I don't think Kerry made a very good case for himself.

There were things we wanted Bush to say and looked at him with too critical an eye.

I thought Kerry looked better, but what he said was purely stupid. He showed he did not understand the War on Terror by focusing on Osama bin Laden. He claimed that the weapons inspectors and sanctions on Iraq were making Saddam Hussein weaker and would have eventually neutralized the threat from Iraq. He wanted to use the same recipe on Iran that failed in North Korea.

Style - Kerry
Substance - Bush

Shalom.

It was funny to see Kerry doing his usual directing of air traffic, while speaking.

I was hoping for a knock-out, but, unfortunately, the polls are going to tighten.

We've got a race on our hands folks. Kerry did what he had to do, and Bush didn't.

Kerry never did give specifics. In fact, once he even referred people to his website for specifics. I got tired of him quoting facts and figures and then GWB stating that what Kerry had just said was simply untrue.

All Kerry said he was going to do, is what GWB is doing already...but "somehow" he's going to do it better. Uh huh....right. ...and I've got some swampland out back that I'll any one of ya'll if your interested.

I think Bush could have done a lot better. He seemed underprepared and exasperated. He missed several opportunities to hammer Kerry on good points and missed it.

I don't think this is going to change much, but had Bush performed better it could have solidified the death of Kerry's campaign. Now I think Kerry supporters will be hopeful and it could improve Kerry's polling.

I hope I'm wrong because I don't want to see anything that looks like Kerry's gaining momentum going into Nov. 2.

I agree Bush lost the debate.. very sad... polls will close now and the media will rally to Kerry and help him close even further... here we go!!!

No way the President lost. In my opinion it was a tie, and the tie always goes to the incumbent. Dubya will still be the President come November 3, 2004.

"I think that Bush's message is the one which will go forward because you don't have to be a policy wonk to understand it."

Kerry was fancy dancing around his flip flops and convoluted reasoning with his pompous attitude and pseudo intellectualism. All it proves is that he's an educated liar who counts on the people being stupid enough to be so impressed with his verbosity that they fail to notice that he isn't saying anything.

As I mentioned in another thread, Kerry kept saying he would "win this thing" (the war in Iraq), but he also made it clear that he's against the war in Iraq. I think serious voters will doubt Kerry's resolve regarding Iraq.

Kerry won. Smoother delivery and kept pounding "I have a plan"

Yeah, but can you say what his plan is. All I heard is I have a plan! I didn't hear what the plan was except that he would do it differently.

What was that third question? "Collosal failure? Senator Kerry?"

MRC is going to rip Lehrer a new one.

Kerry didn't really answer questions. He took 5 seconds to answer it and the remaining time to bloviate.

Bush couldn't win; all the questions were ABOUT Bush.

Excellent point - sKerry got to whack away, Bush was on the defensive all night.
