Thread 1 - Pre-Debate discussion
_______________________
Yes, President Bush did conduct an honorable debate. But you know what they say about who never wins.
I wanted to see more aggresiveness in the president's rebuttals. For example, he could have completely totally slamdunked Kerry on Kerry's voting NO to supply enhanced body armor to our troops on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan. And that just happened a few months ago. Even the talking heads over at Fox were scratching their heads over that one . .
And don't forget they had a TERRORIST problem -- anthrax. I imagine that took up some time.
Yes, I thought Bush did great in the first half.
But then he just sort of fell apart in the second half. It was painful to watch.
I know some solid Republicans at work who think Bush's performance at the end of the debate has cost him badly in this election.
I don't care what these talking head idiots say. Elections do not pivot on debates.
After last night I wish I could believe this.
The truth is elections have turned on debates, many times. Kennedy and Nixon, Carter and Reagan, Reagan and Mondale, Hillary and Lazio are just a few examples
Well ALL THE polls show what he said before the TV camera turned out to be right.
I don't think you are following what is going on, but thanks anyway.
What's to follow?
So Lockhart said one thing privately and something else to the TV. Big surprise.
Did you have some other point to make that I missed?
pinging you on first thread.
That picture sums it up!!!
Once a traitor always a traitor....
Hey, I happen to know this is a fact! You see, my ancestor actually went into business with Benedict Arnold in New Brunswick Canada, after the war!
Arnold cheated him and tried to ruin his reputation! But, instead Arnold was run out of town!
Let's run Kerry out of our towns too. Can you imagine having to see and hear this dolt every night on the news?! Geez, I can not wait until this election is done, so he will be gone!
I think we should see more of Bush the Man - not what Rove tells him. When he stands on his own, Bushs' true nature comes across to the people.
I think he listened too much to his advisors and not enough to his very good instincts.
"Something besides this inane debate is up. I'm not comfortable with W's appearance
tonight."
Here's a distracting tidbit for you:
"Amit Yoran, a former software executive from Symantec Corp., informed the White House
about his plans to quit
as director of the National Cyber Security Division and made his resignation effective at the
end of Thursday,
effectively giving a single's day notice of his intentions to leave. "
I have been lurking for quite sometime but feel compelled to address what Kerry said about the families of troops having to send them body armor. My neighbor's son-in-law is on leave from Iraq now, so I called him to ask if this is true. He said it is absolutlely untrue. Said all troops have body armor. I hope I posted this correctly. I have enjoyed lurking. Conservativegrandma
You did great. Welcome to the fight.
Did ya notice how Kerry took some cards or something out of his pocket? He's such a cheater, loser, traitor, pompous, arrogant a****le.
Whew, now I feel better. President Bush did just fine. He had the same facial expressions as I did every time the Liar opened his mouth. I laughed every time Bush made a face. hehe.
Hugh hasn't a clue. By Monday, this will be even nationally, with Kerry pulling close or ahead in some swing states. Bush may well still win, but the polls will shrink by Monday -- and the media will spin hard.

Bush 49% Kerry 46%
The latest Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll shows President George W. Bush with 49% of the vote and Senator John Kerry with 46%.
When leaners are included in the total, Kerry has closed to within two points of the President. Also, the President's Job Approval has fallen a point since the debate.
These results are based upon a survey of 3,000 Likely Voters conducted since Thursday night's debate. Overall, they show that Senator Kerry has gained one percentage point so far from the debate. It remains to be seen whether or not that bounce will grow leading up to the second debate. More...
Exactly!
Would you like that with Heinz catsup or Heinz 57 Sauce? I think W did a great job of showing the audience that he is in charge of the war and that Kerry doesn't have the vaguest idea what to do. W inspired confidence in his leadership. Kerry just looked like he got a nice tan and a fresh manicure. Oh yes! And he served in Vietnam and wants to be president really really bad.
I hate to say I told you so, but...
