One more thing. i think many freepers on this thread would have done better than Bush did tonight.

This is not defeatism. This is reality, and i pray Karl Rove and Bush will learn from this.

What do Kerry and Benedict Arnold have in common? They were patriots before they were traitors.

Once a traitor, always a traitor.

Here's a first; Ketchup's focus group must've figured out that mouthing "God bless America" plays well in Davenport, so he threw it out for the first time. President Bush's "May God continue to bless our great land" sounded far more genuine (perhaps because he's always said something like that).

Thanks for your perspective.

W, inarticulate as he is, is a Godly man committed to sound principles that have benefited our country greatly during the past four years.

I am hoping all Christians rise up and get to the polls. Our country is indeed in the Lord's hands, as it always has been.

Over the past almost twelve years, I have come to regard the competition between Republicans and Democrats as an almost literal battle between good and evil.

The Democrat Party sold its soul to keep Bubba in office, and it continues to violate almost every ethical and moral standard. It is intellectually dishonest, Machiavellian, and a threat to the very safety of the American people.

May God bless America.

In reply to:
"For the undecided out there, particularly the more uninformed among them, I think this one has to go to Kerry."

Disagree. Bush came across as sincere, not as pleading. Kerry did alot of talking but not much sincerity, more arrogance. Bush's strongest points:
1.Take the fight to the enemy
2. Don't allow the United States have its security determined by other nations.

Bush won this. Kerry couldn't explain his mixed up positions. Kerry said he would "win this" (Iraq). On what accomplishments does Kerry wish us to believe he can do a better job than Bush? That's the bottom line. He hasn't made that case. He never mentioned anything significant from his 20 years in the Senate.

I believe that when Feliks Dzherzhinsky (filthy Chekist [spit]) fell from favor, the square was renamed Lubyanka.

Your statement deserves repeating:

It is obvious Kerry had the questions beforehand. He can't even answer straight at a news conference ordinarily. The press and media are determined Bush is going to lose. They gave him the questions.

What a sad display...

Watch Kerry take a slight lead at the end of next week. Mark my words, or I'll eat crow.

From the viewpoint of those votes still up for grabs, its pretty clear that Kerry won the debate - or rather won it for tonight. He's a great short-term liar(on the spot, when he can't be held accountable by the actual facts), BS'er, and misleader, good attack style, and President Bush did a poor job of countering him point by point, way too much repeating of pat phrases. For the ignorant and gullible(a good portion of the 'swing moderates') it was no contest.

HOWEVER, the real test is in the next few weeks. How well we counter and shoot down Kerry's lies, one by one, will go a long way towards deciding the election. So who really won the debate is certainly still in question.

But sorry, it was a disappointing performance by the President(though he had a very good closing statement), he knew Kerry would pull this crap, but apparently wasn't fully prepared to fight back effectively.

He didn't say "he has no plan" - stayed the course and hit the usual themes. That works, but again: left runners on base.

Bush could have WON the debate and probably the election .....and didn't take it (Kerry handed it to him)...

When Jim Leherer(SP)....Said Mr. Kerry your position ...and Kerry said "BOTH!!!!" -

President Bush should have jumped on that!!..and said "America, that says it ALL about my opponent"...

Huge shot to clean Kerry's clock....it would have made EVERY news segment!!..

Da*n!!

He's on the defensive and Kerry's picking up steam.

I think Bush started off good, but have to agree he is looking more defensive and weak as the debate goes on.

Kerry the lying flip-flopping bag of wind is actually looking more confident than Bush now. It makes me sick how Kerry can parrot lies and contradictions and do it with complete confidence. God help us if Kerry wins.

Kerry has used some very low tactics in a weak attempt to fluster the president. From a southerners point of view, he is just plain ill-mannered. He has said "this president" rather than "President Bush" or "my opponent" or even "the president" multiple times. Kerry is also deliberately flashing that white pen everywhere. Kerry is simply crass and ill-bred.

President Bush is a southerner through and through. He is a gentleman; no matter how rude Kerry has gotten, he has not countered with the same poor manners.

A few points I have observed so far....

GW has seemed a bit short of words a few times. Too many "uhhh"s for my liking. But at least he has made a real effort to only make statements that can be backed up with facts.... which brings me to another observation-

Kerry has already "flip-flopped" at least one major time, contradicted himself in a major way, and told more than one bold-face lie that will easily be contradicted. OF course, the MSM will politely ignore these facts.

By the way - what "nuclear" facilities did GW supposedly instruct our troops to ignore when we invaded Iraq? According to Kerry, the only building our boys have protected in Baghdad is the oil ministry.

Also convenient how sKerry tried to avoid the "voted for it before I voted against it" problem - but GW reminded him.

Or how about Kerry's denial that he said "I will have the troops home within 6 months". He tried to say that he had prefaced that statement with "After our objectives have been met"..... Hasn't GW promised to bring our troops home as soon as our mission is complete? Ugh...

Or how about his flip-flop on the "wrong war at the wrong time" and that the war was a mistake statements - He first repeats that the war in Iraq was a mistake, then only a few minutes later, flops to say that our soldiers have NOT died for a mistake.
