Ain't it amazing? this will be studied by both parties for 2008, though I assume most candidates dont have such polarizing material on film from the past as kerry.

Don't know if there is one set of docs or two but Rolling_Stone post #311 has links, which I can't get to work for me, that show the similarity of the forged documents to some Kerry Navy documents. Looks like some low level operator in the Kerry campaign made up the docs but didn't know enough to know the services are different. Who knows where they sent them before they finally found someone gullible enough to surface them, undoubted CBS and Mr. Rather were just waiting with baited breath for them to show up, then off to the races. HOW did CBS verify a fake unimpeachable source, exactly?

CBS's story doesn't add up, do it?

Given Burkett's track record, even CBS couldn't/ wouldn't call him ''unimpeachable'', so that means someone else was involved. Then we have Dan carefully ''leading the witness'' thruout the entire interview, basically giving Burkett his lines in the form of a question and revealing absolutely nothing that had not already been established as near fact. (I smell cbs lawyers at work.) Supposedly Burkett has identified two different individuals to CBS as the source of the documents & nobody has revealed who either of those two people are....IF, in fact, Burkett gave two sources, which I tend to doubt. I'm of the opinion that John Doe #2 is an invention in an attempt for cbs to CYA.

There is still a time-line problem with the docs.


Reports a few days ago said CBS/DNC had the docs 6 weeks before they aired on 60 Minutes. That would have put the docs in CBS/DNC hands in early August.

However, the Kinkos faxes were supposedly sent in early September.

There are still many unanswered questions. The puzzle pieces aren't quite fitting together yet.

I obviously haven't read the thread, but I lurked on the PBS newshour tonight and they had two Boston Journalism professors that were intensely hard on Rather and totally unforgiving of cBS!!!

They didn't yet know about Lockhart talking to the bitter crank that Rather interviewed today. They hadn't caught that whiff of complicity with the Kerry campaign, but when Gwen Eyefill brought it up, they adamantly condemned that as terminal idiocy!!!

One of them thought the "blogosphere" was superb as "fact checkers" and was quite complimentary to that aspect of the "new media!" A JOURNALISM PROFESSOR WAS IMPRESSED BY PEOPLE LIKE BUCKHEAD!!! INCREDIBLE!!! (grin)

Right: C___BS FRAUDcasting Network went to Burkett after the DNC gave them the documents, they got from Cleland, and said the originals were from Burkett. It is possible that these were created anywhere... THAT is the real question now. I honestly suspect that they came from DNC in the first place.

Nothing less will do.

Second, and even more important, he must apologize TO AMERICA for leading C___BS in their ever more FRAUDLENT campaigning against the PRESIDENT OF OUR COUNTRY simply on the basis that they are in opposition to the conservative ideology. It would be very smart at that time if he recognized what most of America is starting to recognize: that the liberals have been skewing the news media for over 25 years due to that opposition. He would also be wise to state that he would do all he can during his remaining time at that desk acknowledge and to reverse that BIAS ... which was pointed out to him in a book of that name. (he also owes Bernie an apology)

There are many states for which the deadline for names on the ballot has already passed. Any replacement will not be valid in those states.

Any court battle to change that would be on a state-by-state basis and the USSC would not touch an appeal. Demodogs almost certainly concede the election in most states the deadline has passed. Replacement ain't gonna happen now.

Both CBS and Burkett admit some culpability, but get to play the victim. The problem is they can't identify the victimizer or their flimsy story will be further discredited.
