According to the CBS News web site, tonight's CBS Evening News will address the latest developments in Rathergate.
Let's pile on.
Worse than that. It should have been ARMY not Air Guard. Burkett was not a commander in the TANG.
So what is the BFEE? If it's ok to ask.
If you're going to post that graphic, according to FEC regulations you need to add this disclaimer:
"I'm John Kerry, and I approved this broadcast."
Youv'e hit the jackpot Britt
Lies piled on lies don't make truth. One, Burkett gave CBS a name they considered unimpeachable. Burkett said it was a Guard person. Two, he lied under pressure to a "compatriot". Third, he insisted that the documents be verified. Who do you trust?
"I'm John Kerry and I approved these forgeries."
CBS Bull$hat at the speed of light

Hitlery Connection to Operation Fortunate Son:
"Two things: One, he didn't tell the truth and that's not going to go away," said Howard Wolfson, a strategist dispatched to the DNC by Kerry's campaign to go negative on Bush. "Second, it begins to paint a picture of a very fortunate son who uses connections and pulls strings for special favors. That is a theme running through the man's life."

Are you FR's Cop on the block?
CBS admits that they went to Burkett. How did they know to seek him out? Who tipped them that Burkett had the forged documents? Why didn't they question the documents once they had them? All of this is pointing back to the Kerry campaign and the DNC.
Burkett admits to contacting Cleland. Max passed his information to the Kerry camp. Kerry nudges everyone about a blockbuster story about Bush's TANG service that CBS is going to run. The DNC prepares the "Fortunate Son" attack ads to coordinate with the CBS report.
So the timeline goes: Burkett gives the docs to Kerry. Kerry tells them to run the hit on Bush. Gives CBS the information to contact Burkett. Everything circles back to Burkett, with Robin Rather probably facilitating the contacts.
This isn't going away. It's only gonna get bigger.
Yea, but Burkett and Cleland will never confess to anything (at least until after the election). Imho Burkett/Kinko's is the probable source of the memo's (bfd), B had motive & opportunity, shopped them around to willing suitors, and got a bite at cbs (mapes) who ran with it. Fallout is that cbs gets drubbed by other tv "news" organizations for weeks, hurting the Kerry "campaign". Dan wanted to help, but in the final analysis (ok, well, not yet) hurt Kerry's campaign. (Although that shrew Teresa hasn't helped much, either - "scumbags!").
...Instead, they just lamely tried to claim they did it with no malice...
Operative word here is malice - should it be shown they did this with malice then we have the essence of libel correct? Could the other people who are not public figures sue for libel as Killian a husband/father was used in such a despicable way
Grig, I believe you nailed it.
i think this means CBS has decided they cannot cover for the source (cleland?) indefinitely. They would never have let that on the air otherwise.
NO. The Justice Department should NOT investigate this story. If they do, you see, the issue is taken off the table. I say, keep it on the table for the next 6 weeks and the next 6 years:)
Who tipped them to talk to Burkett? We did. We were onto Burkett within 3 days of the original story... a full week ahead of CBS.
