In the interest of the historical importance of things that happened on this forum last week and, most importantly, to try to provide and document an accurate record of exactly what happened here on the evening of September 8, 2004, and the following morning, I have compiled a listing of ALL of the postings that occurred on Free Republic concerning CBS and Dan Rather 60 Minutes show from 8:00 PM EDT on Thurdsay, September 8, 2004, up until about 9:00 AM EDT on the morning of Friday, September 9, 2004, when the rest of the internet "caught up."
I am posting this thread for two reason.
First, to document the facts as we all know them to be -- and to try to put to rest the dubious claims that have been made concerning exactly how this all came about and exactly who "brought" it about.
Perhaps I am doing this to try to set the record straight, so as no one else will believe we are anything other than who we are: a bunch of really cool people (in Freeperware) from all across this country and from all walks of life with a passion for this country and for the truth who are lucky enough to know a man like Jim Robinson who decided to make this his life's work and give us all a place to rant/vent/question/opine/whine/relish the events that go on about us.
And, secondly, to remind everybody that even though Buckhead, TankerKC, and myself are the names mentioned in the blogs and articles concerning that night, it was, as it always is here on Free Republic, many, many posters; numerous questions were raised BEFORE the famous post #47.
And if I might add this: in my humble opinion, it was Free Republic at its best; I'm proud to be among you.
Howlin, I'm gining you an attaboy.
ATTABOY!
68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub, Thanks for the ping.

My latest offering...
Can someone do a graphic of Dab Rather's head super imposed on Janet Jackson's boob at the super bowl?
Or maybe a graphic of Justin Timberlake ripping off Janet Jackson's top and Rather's head popping out. I would do it myself if I could...
Thanks for the record.
hahahahaaa! Good one. :^D
Great job Howlin ~ you and other Freepers are making a hugh difference!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm new to this since the Rather/CBS forgery/fraud/hoax, this episode started, but I realize I am home!
and with proper salutations to Stanley Kubrick and his classic Dr. Strangelove, I offer this: (in Slim Pickens Voice)
Now look FReepers (boys), I ain't much of a hand at makin' speeches. But I got a pretty fair idea that something doggoned important's going on back there. And I got a fair idea of the kind of personal emotions that some of you FReepers (fella's) may be thinking. Heck, I reckon you wouldn't even be human beings if you didn't have some pretty strong personal feelings about bringin down the MSM (nuclear combat). But I want you to remember one thing, the folks back home is a countin' on ya, and by golly we ain't about to let 'em down. Tell you somethin' else. This thing turns out to be half as important is I figure it just might be, I'd say that you're all in line for some important promotions and personal citations when this thing's over with. That goes for every last one of you, regardless of your race, color, or your creed. Now, let's get this thing on the hump. We got some typing (flying) to do.

Great thread. Was on vacation and had no internet when this story broke. When I finally heard about it I knew it had to involve Freepers.
Bravo!

Get used to it. After all, we have been called a "bastion of right wing lunacy".
;-)
But seriously, there is a certain amount of GOOD, patriotic whackoism of folks who care as much about the country as you and many others here! They call us whackos because of a subconscious envy in them!
We the people...bump.
