Blogger Who Faulted CBS Documents Is Conservative Activist (L.A Times RATS out Buckhead!)

WASHINGTON It was the first public allegation that CBS News used forged memos in its report questioning President Bush's National Guard service a highly technical explanation posted within hours of airtime citing proportional spacing and font styles.
But it did not come from an expert in typography or typewriter history as some first thought. Instead, it was the work of Harry W. MacDougald, an Atlanta lawyer with strong ties to conservative Republican causes who helped draft the petition urging the Arkansas Supreme Court to disbar President Clinton after the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the Times has found.

I guess the Arkansas Supreme Court must have found the complaint reasonable, or clinton wouldn't have been disbarred in his own home state.

Does it make the truth any less factual because it wasn't an "expert" in typography who initially noticed the problems with the memos? The thing that gets me is that after all the debunking, they proved to be such amateurish and obvious fakes. Dan Rather is supposed to be an expert newsman. 'Nuff Said.
And, we need to quit calling them forgeries. Forgery has a different meaning than does a fake. When you forge a check, you're only forging the signature. Fakes are much more serious than forgeries.

Does it make the truth any less factual because it wasn't an "expert" in typography who initially noticed the problems with the memos? To my way of thinking the fact that the were spotted as fakes by someone with no document authenication training shows what a pethetic forgery they are, and what a pathetic "news" organisation C.B.S is.

The Liberal Left at it's slimy worst again. Throwing labels like 'conservative activist' at Buckhead instead of trying to refute the data provided by the intelligient Bloggers.
Waiting to hear that Buckhead conspired with Karl Rove and planted the forged documents in a brilliant conspiratory strategy.
You Liberal Leftists are such ignorant ostriches...truth prevails despite your wails.

Isn't it interesting that the LAT found Buckhead in 5 days, but had no idea the memos were fake and still has no clue as to how they found their way to CBS and whether the DNC was involved? Anyone remember the six degrees of Kevin Bacon chart the NYT ran about one week into the SBVFT ads? These guys do great investigative journalism when they're motivated. In all other cases they'll see the story someday in a history book
