Its seems odd that country proclaiming a commitment to Freedom supports the closure of the only real free press in most of the middle east - Al Jazeera. Even Alister Campbell aplogist for the UK governement and a supporter of muting the TV station during the invasion of Iraq now agrees how important the station is to free speech.
So all of you neo-cons with your spin on Freedom for the Iraqi people how about letting them watch what ever TV station they wish to switch on. And let Al Jazeera report from Iraqi what has an emerging democracy ocuupied by freedom loving democracies got to fear from free sppech

Of course! For visitors to 'free republic' you lot seem rather unconcerned about issues of freedom of speech and the press. There are plenty of people like Goerring who broadcast crap on the internet or tv, the point is that no one listens to them. In the UK we really believe people should be able to say what they like, just as others can condemn what they say. I cannot believe I am visiting an American website that doesn't believe in freedom of speech. Are you all secretly stalinists?
