It's a civilised nine at night (Saturday) where I am...
But the tears won't stop flowing. For the victims of 9/11 and all the victims since....
Can't write anymore, crying too hard - Kajac
If you swing by NYC, drop me a line. Perhaps we can get some other freepers together for a patriotic freep, in defense of this great nation.

Stop crying. Those souls are being avenged. Russia is joining, and the Russian bears and Siberian wolves are very hungry.
I sent you a little email that you can answer in your time:) What was your dad doing around NYC?

I remember being the information lifeline to my good friend Marcia (Iowa native living in Jamaica).
We emailed back and forth for most of that night. (I wish I had kept a copy of them, but we have a new computer -- they are lost forever.)
The part about which I got MOST weepy was when I was describing to her how the everyday construction workers, etc., were working at the site; on their own time, until they were pulled away or were so exhausted they had to stop. These were not professional rescue people, but construction guys. They came from all over the city, unbidden, to do work they knew they had to do. What a majestic thing to watch.
Random thoughts: How we truly missed the Soviet era of espionage and intrigue (!) and now had to face this new, untraditional, unfamiliar enemy....how I DID NOT WANT TO KNOW WHERE GEORGE W. BUSH was. If I didn't know, then neither did THEY....Ditto Dick Cheney....Oh, too many emotions stirred up.
STAY SAFE IN MOBAY, Marcia and Easton!

Dio, (IF you haven't already been pinged AND IF you think it is in GOOD FORM), could you post your WTC pictures here?
FR is the only place I see them. I always have to stop and look slowly at them, because they put whatever I'm doing into perspective.
Thank you.
I hope they make it out of this hurricane without any scratches.
The amazing thing is that there were emergency workers-or "first responders" as they're now universally referred to as-from across the breadth of the United States.
In fact, to the best of my recollection, there were even some firefighters who came in from OK City.
It truly was astonishing to see the response of the rest of this country to our plight.
Bump, and thanks for the pic!
You are a gentle person. I'm not. You may feel sorrow for the victims of 9/11; I feel anger for the people responsibile for it.
Never forget!
It WAS astonishing. IIRC, even some from Wisconsin went, also.
But when no one could get into the city that first night, I was amazed to watch those construction workers. The emotion on their faces....
Thank you both.
Watched a program on PBS last night (I should have known better...) on the attacks on 9/11.
It started off on the reactions between the Air Traffic Control and NORAD's response to the hijackings. It was interesting, but then became the program became a venom spilled attack on the Bush Administration.
They exonerated the Clinton Administration and was relentless in going after Bush, and Condi Rice. They cited she never gave the commission answers they were looking for, which is nonsense. I saw those hearings.(It sounded as though Bill Moyers was narrating.)
I became angry at a program, and PBS, that instead of pulling people together on this anniversary, worked at splitting people apart, and exploiting a tragedy.
I find that despicable.
God bless you all on this anniversary, and God Bless America!
Well, I was fairly weepy that night, and on occasion since then.
I get pretty corked off at those evil bastards assholes shi'iteheads congresscritters Islamofascists on a regular basis, don't worry. Just ask Mr. Tart about how I scream at the TV, lol.
"Prison abuse? ABUSE? Get the cushy chair, fercryinoutloud!"
Thanks for the powerful memorial post! God Bless America.
Why, oh why would you ever watch P-BS? They're a gubmint black hole.
It started off interesting... with tapes between Air Traffic Control and NORAD, that I hadn't heard before, but then the program just spun out of control.
Gee! You are in my militia! Load weapons and clean up! Panties on all prisoner's heads!
