I hope they make it out of this hurricane without any scratches.

The amazing thing is that there were emergency workers-or "first responders" as they're now universally referred to as-from across the breadth of the United States.

In fact, to the best of my recollection, there were even some firefighters who came in from OK City.

It truly was astonishing to see the response of the rest of this country to our plight.

It WAS astonishing. IIRC, even some from Wisconsin went, also.

But when no one could get into the city that first night, I was amazed to watch those construction workers. The emotion on their faces....
