Local DC radio: Washington Post unearthed the forged docs (Hurl alert)

Posted on 09/10/2004 2:59:34 PM PDT by vajimbo

The DC ABC radio affiliate (WMAL) just aired on their 5:30 PM news, that (paraphrasing) there may be a problem with the 60 Minutes documents, and that it was the Washington Post that "dug in" and analyzed the docs determining they were probably not authentic.

So is this the MSM's strategy to save face? Throw CBS under the bus and try to gain back some credibility by claiming that they did the research (and implying they would have exposed the forgeries even if Freepers didn't really break the story).

May want to Freep WMAL to get them to change their spin. (http://www.wmal.com)

Man! What a scoop for the Post! I'm impressed. Will they be nominated for a Pulitzer? First Watergate, now this!

Foxnews, Carl Cameron and his guest, a former Texas National guardsman of GW's time, really handing CBS and Rather and Kerry their lunch over the forged docs, and also RAT rumors that GW was AWOL because he was a drug fiend. So lame. The more they get mired in this, the bigger the backlash. They're smearing an honest man...and his commander at the time, now dead. If Kerry has a brain, he'll move off this asap. Trouble is, of course, he has nothing sensible to offer anybody.

I have to agree to some degree with you. Let the WaPost and some other OldMediots help us carry this story.

It is now sufficient for me that at least two Old Media stories:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1212080/posts
ABC NEWS THE NOTE CREDITS BUCKHEAD AS 1st to uncover forgery

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1211771/posts
CBS'S BIG BLUNDER? (Credits Free Republic)

as well as:

Anatomy of a Forgery

Give FReepers the initial credit, and that will be acknowledged in history, just as Drudge has been acknowledged as the original breaker of the "stained dress" story, to the chagrin of many.

"credibility is left in the Marxstream media. (love that term, its so appropriate..."

I like your term also! But maybe MarxistStreamMedia sounds a little better? What do you think?

Who cares who claims credit for it, the point is THEY'RE FAKE! and everybody knows it (except danny boy). it might just look more creditable to independents, etc if abc and the washington post say they uncovered it... In reality it makes me sick because that's NOT the truth but whatever they're just trying to make some money I guess.
