Brit Hume announced story coming up now on National Guard docmunents
Go to the "CYA" memo and look at the space between Y and A.
Not done on a typewriter.
>>Psst.... news? I knew about this, this morning at the FRee Republic..... I don't even need cable to be ahead.... hell, Drudge is even 8 hours behind.<<
Which is why, as a news hound, I have been able to do without TV since '97. 8^>
Why did they do that?
Because far from the lie often told about them that they are the most secretive WH ever, they are quite open and transparent.
"proof" Bush was AWOL
but they don't know what AWOL means --
The thing about this is, even if the docs were real, they are nothing.
They think they have Bush nailed, and it is nothing.
They have no clue.
The stuff on Kerry: that IS real . . . and they don't realize that, either.
Of course, it is easier for J.Q. Public to understand "the documents are forgeries" than to understand the military status and actions and etc. So the fact that they were forged is gravy.
Did ABC draw any conclusions from that? Or, just left it up in the air what to make of computer use in 1972?
Checking the John F'n "flip-flop fop" Kerry medal citations as we speak.
I bet the FBI also have a fairly extensive dossier of the ORIGINAL scriblings of John F'n "flip-flop fop" Kerry on file, including samples of his efforts on his portable typewriter.
But...but... Ben Barnes borrowed Mr. Peabody's Wayback Machine and sent a PC to Col. Killian!
This isn't the MSM jumping the shark--this is about the MSM being eaten by the shark!
Good riddance to O'Bloviator.
From the Lancaster (PA) Intelligencer Journal
LSM indeed.
The White House probably realized very early that they were forgeries. They really couldn't come out and yell that they were forgeries because it would make them look guilty so they did a very smart thing...they released them to the public. The public, as we now know, also very quickly saw that they were forgeries. This was a brilliant move by the White House.
The Guard does not have any designation of AWOL -- it's under UCMJ, which the Guard wasn't under, since it's considered a State organization not a Federal organization, unless they are federally activated/deployed.
Sounds like the pirhanas smell blood in the water. I could stand to watch a media war between ABC and CBS. Who's bringing the popcorn?
CBS News denies Bush docs forged (then calls back to back off of earlier "expert" claim)
And when someday we finally learn who "these individuals" are, you can bet your bottom dollar they will not be Bush supporters.
The collapse of the old media continues apace, only faster.
Don't want you to miss the link to the Weekly Standard at post #633.
Probably they just wanted to watch Dan the Clymer hang himself. They must be splitting a gut over this.
There is a small problem with your example. It is right-justified, and the CBS documents aren't. That would make the comparison of spacing impossible. Individual letters could be compared, however.
Got a response Pete Yost's office, the AP reporter who wrote one of the earlier articles saying Bush was now under the gun because of the new "documents". Note the bolded line below...
I pointed out the proportional fonts and superscripts, and concluded:
"If Mr. Yost wants a big scoop, maybe he could find out who gave these obvious forgeries to CBS.
"By the way, when will AP sue the government for Mr. Kerry's military records? Mr. Kerry is making you of the press look like sycophantic fools."
Response from Yosts office:
Appreciate the e-mail. We are pursuing Kerry's Vietnam war records. Thanks for the assessment of the document. If you have more information, please let us know immediately. Thanks.
Just the fact that A-BS is backing away from C-BS is damning enough. Red Dan and Co. are finished - the only way they can get out of this now is to admit that they were duped by the forgeries, retract the story, turn over the originals and the name of their source to the Feds so they can prosecute for forging government documents, and select a few ceremonial heads to lop off and display on pikes outside the ramparts.
They never will do this, of course.
