WASHINGTON AP) - The Bush administration differed Tuesday with Russian President Vladimir Putin and said that only a political settlement could end the crisis between Russia and the breakaway region of Chechnya.

The administration also left open the possibility of U.S. meetings with Chechens who are not linked to terrorists.

Secretary of State Colin Powell and Deputy Secretary Richard Armitage signed a book of condolences at the Russian Embassy over the deaths of at least 330 people, most of them children, during a hostage-taking last week at a school in the southern city of Beslan.

"You mean you believe they are to blame for the actions of the chechens. "

Luis Gonzales is still fighting the cold war. He probably works for the state dept. Lots of people like him over there.

This is a mistake of monumental proportion. It fact if this is for real, I will not be voting for Bush. These people just murdered 400 children and Russia is supposed to sit down and talk to them? Has this administration lost it mind? This had better not be for real.

"By the way...

Why is Russia occupying Chechnya?"

Thats like asking "why the US is occupying Texas?" We kicked Mexico's butt is why Texas is part of the US today.

Texas won it's independence on it's own, no help from USA. Well, the US did have an Army sitting on the Texas/La border just waiting for the Mexican army to get close and Houston was heading towords it as fast as he could, but his (Houston's) army got tried of running at decided on thier own to fight. They kicked Mexican butt, and the US army went home.

"Advocating genocide by the Russians? "

If you believe Chechen propaganda does that make you a terrorist supporter? That is what suckers who fall for Palistinian propaganda are.

The Chechen terrorists are not the government of Chechnya, nor are they the people of Chechnya...that is unless we equate one with the other my blaming the whole of the Chechen people for the actions of the terrorists.

You don't know any Chechens do you?

Words for deaf ears.

So then, now you are a supporter of the Communist expansion in Europe post Bolshevism, and you equate it to the American expansion in our continent.

Just so we have no problem understanding one another:

You---Unites States=Soviet Union.

You're comparing the US with Reagan's "Evil Empire".

I know what you are now.
