Hmmmmmmm.
WTF???
Wink wink, nudge nudge.
I think this is a dumb idea. Hopefully, it's just another nonsensical outburst by the State Department. Bush can't possibly think that diplomacy is going to fix this.
WTF?
stupid, stupid, and more stupid.
The State Dept. is a wasteland of liberalism and needs to be cleaned out. Bush needs to ignore these imbeciles and do whats right.
pretty much. If the State department didn't say this I would be alarmed.
The administration also left open the possibility of U.S. meetings with Chechens who are not linked to terrorists. We are scum.
Who said this? I want names.
What???
Even the 9/11 Commission mentioned in their report that Chechens were part of the global terrorists.
Big mistake (one of dozens) by the State Department.
And since when do we negotiate with terrorists or recommend that others do the same.
This is asinine.
I also want to see an agenda. Just what conditions for peacemaking are we talking about here?
Hard to believe.
Richard Boucher.
I am totally enraged by this article. It would be as if we were forced to engage in talks with Bin Laden or the Taliban. The state department should stfu. It's no wonder Russia is angry with the United States...Pres. Bush is wrong if he believes this-it is truly a double standard. The Russians would be fools to allow a Chechnayn Islamic state on their borderss-a perfect staging area for more terrorism against the Russian people.
Just wait till France and Germany start calling you a Nazi for doing what you have to do.
This is for the same reason that we are working to rebuild Iraq. The Bush administration is not into the "kill 'em all and let God sort it out" philosophy.
Not everyone in Iraq or Chechnya is a terrorist. The administration recognizes that and works, using diplomacy, to try to fix things.
Much as many hate it, President Bush has often said that he respects Islam as a religion. He's not into slaughtering all Muslims simply because one group claiming that religion are terrorists.
I can't imagine why anyone would be surprised at this story.
I could see the DOS issuing this if the fight was with the Russian army. But this is little kids now ... and when that happens, the gloves come off.
