David was the second King of Israel and he was from the "KING" tribe Judah and lineage to Christ.
The first king of Israel was Saul and he was from the tribe of Benjamin. His life and times resemble bjclinton greatly.
The House of Israel had a break and became two kingdoms, thereafter called House of Israel (10 northern tribes) and House of Judah (2 southern tribes).
When the Kingdom of Judah was sent into captivity to the king of Babylon, Jeremiah took the king's "tender twigs" daughters to safety and off the continent.

Michaelangelo seems to have forgotten that David was Jewish.... Right. Jewish boys are circumsized. "David" is not. Seems to me that his being uncircumsized is pretty meaningful....

Uncircumcized, and undersized. An "ideal" with gentle gentile genitalia.

For great many centuries it was forgotten that even Jesus was Jewish...
Actually, this reminds me of a Texas school principal. A few years ago, frustrated with a Mexican pupil speaking Spanish to another, he exclaimed: "You are in America now, speak English! If English was good enough for our Lord and Savior, it should be good enough for you!"

Michaelangelo seems to have forgotten that David was Jewish...... Oh no. From what I understand the foreskin was very deliberate. Michelangelo's David was intended, as the article suggests, to be an example of the New Man, unshackled by religious covenant. Circumscision was a sign of the ovenant between God and His people - a sign that you were under authority. Hence the fact that Michelangelo left the foreskin on.
I disagree with the article - there is nothing to admire about it, aside from aesthetics.

Y'know, I never noticed that before. Very interesting... David came well after Abraham, so yes, let's just say Michelangelo didn't chip away quite enough marble...

Maybe he didn't know what a circumcised one looks like.

Y'know, I've always wondered the same thing. |
I mean, not like I'm staring at it or anything. Really.
