Nothing (well almost nothing) would please me more than seeing Alan Keyes win a seat in the U.S. Senate!
Why?
And despite his remarks on reparations or affirmative action, I would be extremely happy and take great pleasure in seeing Alan Keyes defeat Barack Obama. I believe whole heartedly that unlike Obama, Senator Keyes would preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America to the utmost of his ability and would dedicate himself to working with all of us in securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, and if that makes me a selfish hedonist, then so be it.
I challenge anyone here to put up a detailed list of the reasons why you believe Barack Obama would be better for America in the Senate than Alan Keyes.
"When you speak of "useful idiots" you do mean Keyes, right?"
I'm talking about people who joins in unison with the left in attacking a fellow Republican. I'll leave it to you to figure out who they are.
Amen!
OBAMA MUST BE DEFEATED.
I always suspected you were Cheney's daughter. I mean like no one's ever seen the two of you in the same room.
Elimination of income taxes for "former slaves." BTW, he considers us ALL tax-slaves.....
It would never be better in the long run to have Obama elected. We need every pro-life, pro-gun, pro-America, pro-conservative judge vote we can get in the Senate. Reparations will never come up for vote. The other much more important issues do every session.
I don't believe he is dumb, but he does surround himself with less than capable people. He could also learn to tone it down some, which might help. However, I agree with most every thing the man says and believes.
I am and it's not a hard choice for me.
Do I want a hard core socialist baby killer or do I want a conservative who believes in our constitution. - Not a hard choice at all.
I would love to see him on the Senate floor making speeches.
"I think Daschle and Boxer are gone, and Keyes has a chance"
Man, I wish this were true...but I gotta say, I think this is an insane prediction. These 3 victories would be sort of like a repeat of 1994....I would love it if someone out there could tell me how wrong I am but I don't think Keyes, Jones or Thune will win. Though Thune has a beter shot than the other two.
Now that's the way I see it. Let's see Obama ve Keyes? Boxer vs Keyes? Hillary vs Keyes? Kennedy vs Keyes? Daschle vs Keyes? Harkin vs Keyes? Choice is simple. This ain't exactly rocket science.
You one THAT debate with one shot! Nice work!
It's not a reasonable proposition at all(though that wouldn't keep the media from trying).
He obviously would make them look more moderate by comparison.
Moving the conservative definition further creates more "moderates"- by definition.
Why WE must support Alan Keyes:
1) Barack Obama has been annointed by the media and the Democrats as a "future star" in the Democrat party.
2) Keyes OPPOSES income taxes for ALL Americans.
3) The national GOP will be watching to see if party activists and voters will support a "unabashed pro-life candidate."
4) If Alan Keyes does better than expected, we will get more Conservative, Pro-Life, Pro-Constitution candidates in the future.
5) If Alan Keyes does worse than expected, we will get more pro-choice, "liberal" Arlen Specter-type candidates.
6) Obama voted to defend "live-birth abortion" (Allowing babies born alive during botched abortions to die from lack of care.) Hillary and Ted Kennedy wouldn't even vote for this. If this is not a winning issue, the GOP can take "pro-life" off the table as an issue.
7) The national media will be waiting for the opportunity to claim that Republicans are racist and will not vote for a black man.
8) The media knocked Jack Ryan out of the race. A bigger victory for Obama over Keyes than would have happened versus Ryan will reward them and encourage more of the same against other GOP candidates. An improved showing in IL by the GOP will punish the media for trashing Ryan. If Ryan was your man, avenge him by supporting Keyes.
9) Supporting Keyes in IL will help Bush win IL.
10) It will indicate that the GOP is made up of people who can intelligently debate ideas (slavery, reparations, tax cuts, freedom) and support someone who makes an attempt to debate ideas. If Keyes is shunned for being willing to debate ideas, we will only be rewarded with more bland, packaged candidated who spout platitudes.
11) Obama or Keyes? Who do you want voting on the next several Supreme Court nominees?
12) Everything you don't like about Keyes, you'll get more of from Obama. One of these two men WILL be the next Senator from Illinois.
13) At stake is not only a much-needed U.S. Senate seat but the future ability of the Republican Party to attract and keep black candidates and voters. That is unlikely to happen if black candidates simply get sent out on suicide missions. --Thanks to Thomas Sowell...
14) Many people have stated that they will support Keyes "once he reaches a certain percentage in the polls." Your vote may be worth several if it convinces other people that the GOP can win this race.
15) As Kerry implodes (officially began 2 weeks ago), this race will become more competitive.
16) Once Obama gets into a Senate seat, it will be VERY difficult to get him out. Incumbency rules!
What would you prefer: a moderate Republican who defeats Obama, or a true conservative who sends Obama to the Senate with the greatest margin of victory in modern electoral history?
He IS the candidate.
All the more reason for conservatives to be upset with Keyes for running a campaign of amateurish clumsiness.
