Public housing was once a horror, but is a boil that has been largely lanced. It is one of those oldie but goodie issues, that alas, doesn't have much resonance now I suspect. Most poor folks now get their housing through housing vouchers as it were. Any remaining public housing should be phased out, but this is a relative non issue now. As I said, it was once a horror, and when I lived on the south side of Chicago, I witnessed it, up close and personal.
Yes,I know...but stiff upper lip,my dear.
QUESTION TO ANYONE:
QUESTION TO ANYONE:
Maybe I should wait and ask this question on another thread at another time -- but is there any way these speeches will be available on DVD? Do such things exist at some political junkie website I don't know about??
I agree. Zell felt (and he was right) that he said what needed to be said. He is just sick over the fact that his party has been hijacked by left wing freaks over the past 35 years.
And now...there is no diversity in the dem party. If you don't have their leftist view...then you are shunned.
Lieberman, Zell, Evan....they all get pushed aside.
And it takes the dem party to a dangerous position.
Tonight was Zell's warning to the dems about their biggest problem..as much as it was support for Bush.
Zell put his country first tonight...and, as has happened all year...the dems will attack him and try and start more slimeball rumors.
Zell knows this...and for his country...he took that stage anyway. Tonight I saw a hero..but I also saw a man who is saddened by the fact that a party that he once trusted...has gone haywire. Even the younger southern dems have gone extreme left.
Look...if the republican party went insane like the dems have...I would not blame a republican for making the same speech.
This moderate Pubbie thinks Gergen is a useful idiot for the Left. He frankly really isn't very bright. Sad really.
The audio should be available on audible.com later this week.
Cool -- thanks!
Nope -- some black shirted/hooded loser who may have been trying to get away from a cop for something not related to the MSNBC crew and thought he could escape through the set.
Others may have more accurate info.
Zell was great!! I sent him an email earlier. We need to thank him because the Dems sure aren't!!
I noticed that C-Span has the Dem convention DVDs on sale. So that's one place to watch.
WHat do you think he's gonna propose as regards ownership?
Thanks!
Maybe not but democrats will begin to ask what this democrat is saying that is causing such upset in dem ranks, and when they find out what Zell is saying, all the better.
The MSM does not like the Swift vets either, nor do they focus in on what they are saying, but trash them, it has not stopped them from being effective in a massive way.
Thanks for the pep talk. NYC is probably even more liberal than it ever was... and the hate and vitriol for President Bush is just absurd. It's good to see that there's solid W support elsewhere.
Saturday at 10Am: CSPAN starts rebroadcast of some of the key speeches.
.
I don't have a clue, but whatever it is, it won't work. Those remaining in public housing at this point, don't have the income to hack it, or the knowledge. As I said, relatively few poor folks live in public housing now. That is one horror of the Great Society, one failure, one plot to maintain segregated neighborhoods by Dem machine hacks, that is now largely interred. This nation has made progress in many ways, John. Many just don't notice it.
That would seem to be a great move, or perhaps a variation on that theme. Offers hope to those who might otherwise be fretting with all the quibbling about is unemployment up or down, growth good or slow. Offers hope to several minority groups with lower rates of home ownership. The offer of a carrot but with a lower price tag, copay versus gift.
Yeah, I loved this line:
I'm not easy to offend, but this speech was gob-smackingly vile.
Not easy to offend? Gimme a break.
