Andrea Mitchell of all people just said that Laura Bush gave a beautifully delivered and powerful speech that will have a very big impact with women voters. Never thought I waould hear anything like that from Andrea.

If we all thought of ourselves as perfect, then we'd be liberals... ;)

I suppose so.

I guess they could have worn a
see-thru dress like Alexandra Kerry at the Cannes Film Festival and be considered ultra svelte.

Kondracke showed a "generation gap" in his descriptive comment "ditzes". I doubt any of them had daughters in that age group.
To: clintonh8r
I agree. The Twins and Laura should have led and then followed by aaaahnold. This would have left the night on a high note!
To: jennyjenny
Yes, the Kerry girls are in their early 30s and a decade of experience can make a lot of difference!

Kerry is doing badly right now yes, but let's not forget that the attack machine is hard at work looking for some new tactic to discredit the President. Remember the DUI from the last election? The media will gladly do a 24/7 play of any new "scandal" they can manage to generate.

And quite possibly left a lot of people on the east coast in bed getting ready for work the next day and missing Arnold's speech...

"Bill Kristol thought that the twins and Laura hurt the Bush momentum tonight."
YUP - there goes the election.
Opps- I thought I just saw him dissing the twins (I thought it was cute but lame, but not a big deal).
I thought Laura did great. First bringing out some of the home front issues and Bush's RECORD: no child left behind, tax cuts, small business, stem cells, medicare - ALL very good points that need to be mentioned - especially for the swing voters. Showed the thought and comportment he gave the war on Iraq. Women voting in Afghanistan (and Iraq which she should have mentioned but I don't think she did).
I thought Laura came off very well in the points she made, the honesty she portrayed, and in her speaking style as well.

I don't think the east coast is the demographics we are trying to get. They are rabidly lost and can't be retrieved!

What gets me is that when Teresa delivered such a bad speech at the Dim convention just about everyone in the media went out of their way to use euphemisms like "interesting" and "unique" instead of coming right out and saying it stunk. As though somehow they didn't feel it was appropriate to criticize her. Same with the "shove it" incident where they were quick to come to her defense as an "outspoken" woman. And yet they have no compunction going after the Bush girls. They don't hesitate to rip into them whether it was their performance tonight or whether it was Jenna sticking out her tongue playfully at the press (which is an interesting contrast to Teresa actually telling a member of the press to "shove it" and yet you'd think Jenna's transgression was far worse going by the media's reaction).

"I could only groan."My reaction too. Why in the world weren't they given the services of a speechwriter? Afew of their comments were embarassing and trashy. They were definately not the class act they could have been. Both struck me as being wild and pretty undisciplined. That's a shame.

I didn't hear Wallace but I also thought they were refreshing & funny.
I actually laughed out loud at the 'Sex in the City' joke....but what do I know compared to those esteemed pundits on Fox & CNN?

Can't recall if it was Matthews, Fox or CNN but someone remarked that in the race for first lady...Laura beats Taraysa......and that Laura is very popular with Americans.
