The pounding Kerry has been taking from the Swift Boat Veterans over his Vietnam record, and his concomitant poll plunge, is literally driving his liberal supporters crazy.
The evidence was at hand on last evening's Fox Media Watch (the rebroadcast of which I'm watching this morning at 6:30-7 AM EDT).
In all my years of watching the show, I cannot recall the resident liberals - Jane Hall (a woman of a certain age), and the small-but-perfeectly formed Neal Gabler - so absolutely beside themselves.
So frenzied was Gabler that you almost imagined the men in white suits would have to make an appearance before Gabler hurt someone or himself. He was apoplectic at the notion that the panel was discussing the merits of the issue at all, declaring that this just played into Karl Rove's diabolical plot. He simply wanted to declare that the allegations were false, a fraud, etc. and would brook no debate.
Biting the Fox paw that feeds her, Jane Hall blamed "the cable news networks" for perpetuating the story. Both the libs agreed that it was wrong of the media to present both sides of the story, since in their view there is only one side - all the Swift Boat Vets for Truth are lying.
When Cal Thomas attempted to cite the statement by William L. Schachte Jr., a retired rear admiral, to the effect that he was on the same small boat as Kerry but did not witness any enemy fire during the event for which Kerry received his first Purple Heart, Gabler totally lost it. He screamed and cut Cal off, determined that there would be no more discussion of the issue.
Never have I seen the libs in such blind panic and fury. They know that Kerry's lies about his record have come home to roost and will ultimately cost him the election. It was glorious!
I had always heard about liberals totally losing their cool when things aren't going their way but had never seen such a good example until then.
Let's face it, you have to have a few "toys in your attic" to be a good liberal anyway.
Thanks to information flowing from freedom loving FReepers, the most informed citizens in the history of civilization, we have become much faster than 24/7/365 news coverage. We are 60/60/24/7/365 news coverage...coverage every second of every minute.
Thanks for your work covering the propagandists and dinasours governsleastgovernsbest.
Thanks to all posters for all of their work!
I have to agree.
The Dems stick together, come hell or high water. They go the mat for each other. At least, one has to admire their backbone.
The amazing thing to me is: Every time a major Dem gets in trouble/hand caught in the cookie jar, Republicans end up resigning. I still haven't figured out that one. I also haven't figured out why Republicans tend to eat their own when one of their own gets in trouble. It is difficult to name Republicans in Washington who have backbone. It is easy to name many Dems who do.
[By backbone, I don't mean that their stand is right; but I mean they 'take a stand' and fight for it--right or wrong.]
ROFLMAO, Hey did anybody catch Susan Estrich having a little fit herself on Tony Snow's show. She kept looking into the camera "it's a lie (Swifties charges) L-I-E , lying " What a hag.
"Devoted to certain fixed opinions, they are forced to defend what they hardly approve." - Cicero, Disputationes Tusculanae, ii. 2.
Here's hoping there is some "roosting". Hall and Gabler's sick panic was very indicative of Kerry trouble, but I am not at all convinced that BIG/Liberal/Commie/Democrat/Media will not win in the end! The average American voter is not too "swift", if you get my drift!
I'm lovin' reading about this.

Gosh, this is amazing!
50% of the entire nationwide audience that watches these shows is here on this thread...
Can't be. Thighs aren't the size of phone booths. :)
It's not that we conservatives don't have cojones. It's that those of us that do are fully aware many of our compatriots will joyously offer us up to the libs as sacrificial lambs, rather than support us in time of need, just to show the cosmos they really ARE fair-minded.
At least libs don't eat their own.
Good morning, prairie! Major meltdowns by the malignant leftists. You have to love the smell of DNC sweat in the morning. LOL
That's part of it. I think he's p*ssy whipped.
But Al likes to be on the A lists, and the only way he stays there is to toe the liberal line.
I've been cable-free the last couple of days (not worth it to set up the satellite dish for just one night at a time), relying on the internet and FR for news. It's really sort of nice.....
Cable awaiting for the RNC convention though. Hahaa!

Dear Neal:
Welcome to Conservative hell. I remember in late October 2000 when some goofy guy from Maine revealed a 30 year old drunk driving charge against Bush. I hadn't one damn thing to do with the election but the press was all over it sliming W until election night. It nearly tilted things to Gore and probably cost Bush the popular vote.
Some simple advice for all liberals: Grow up.
He screamed and cut Cal off, determined that there would be no more discussion of the issue.
I've told Mr. Peach not to make any plans for us Monday-Thursday. Aside from the gym and grocery shopping (which I'll probably try to weasel hubby into doing!), I am home watching the week's events. Stay safe!
Could you see that? WOW!!!
That would be better than the Cheney/Edwards Smackdown and the Zell Miller speech put together.
"when Gabler's blood pressure went off the scale I became absorbed in it."
You just gave me a great idea for a panel news discussion. Each member gets wired up to a polygraph and we watch their readings as they rant. Would be hillarious.
They'd never go for it, but the image is beautiful.
