XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX TUE AUG 24, 2004 11:09:31 ET XXXXX

KERRY PHONES SWIFT BOAT FOES

**Exclsuive**

Dem presidential hopeful John Kerry personally phoned anti-Kerry swift boat vets, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Kerry reached out to Robert "Friar Tuck" Brant Cdr., USN (RET) Sunday night, just hours after former Sen. Bob Dole publicly challenged Kerry to apologize to veterans.

Brant was skipper of the #96 and # 36 boat and spent time with Kerry in Anm Thoi. Kerry and Brant slept in the same quarters, and Brant used to put Kerry back to be at night when Kerry was sleepwalking.

Brant received a call from Kerry at his home in Virginia while he was watching the Olympics on TV.

The call lasted 10 minutes, sources tell DRUDGE.

KERRY: "Why are all these swift boat guys opposed to me?"

BRANT: "You should know what you said when you came back, the impact it had on the young sailors and how it was disrespectful of our guys that were killed over there.

[Brant had two men killed in battle.]

KERRY: "When we dedicated swift boat one in '92, I said to all the swift guys that I wasn't talking about the swifties, I was talking about all the rest of the veterans."

Kerry then asked if he could meet Brant -- man to man -- face to face.

Brant declined the invite, explaining that Kerry was obviously not prepared to correct the record on exactly what happened during Vietnam and what happened when Kerry came back.

Never mind all this medal stuff. What abou Kerry's sleepwalking? Do we really want a president who will sleepwalk through the White House like Art Carney (Ed Norton) in The Honeymooners looking for his lost dog LuLu. Yikes! This guy is a freakshow.

I dunno....I don't think they can bypass the delegate process, but we'll have to see. I can't seem to find anything in federal election law, presidential, relating to post party nomination acceptance withdrawl. (sounds like a temporary neurosis, doesn't it?)

Don't forget his wife, who appears to be having affairs with Prince Valium and his vizier Prozak, wandering around the White House muttering vaguely about the Sufferage movement and ending Apartheide.

"What is of course absurd about this is that in the Dick Cavett debate with John O'Neill, he admitted to committing atrocities himself, thereby indicting his colleagues who were presumably at least witnesses if not co-participants in those atrocities"

I am amazed the film of this isn't on the air anywhere. Maybe the third swift boat vet ad before the CFR gag goes in effect?

ANOTHER KERRY LIE: According to Drudge, Kerry says...

KERRY: "When we dedicated swift boat one in '92, I said to all the swift guys that I wasn't talking about the swifties, I was talking about all the rest of the veterans."

BUT IN HIS CONGRESSIONAL TESTIMONY, the only 'veterans' Kerry talks about really are those who he is 'speaking ob behalf of.' his ENTIRE testimony is in the context of what those other veterans said.

Here is the transcript:

"I am not here as John Kerry. I am here as one member of the group of 1,000 which is a small representation of a very much larger group of veterans in this country, and were it possible for all of them to sit at this table they would be here and have the same kind of testimony....

I would like to talk, representing all those veterans, and say that several months ago in Detroit, we had an investigation at which over 150 honorably discharged and many very highly decorated veterans testified to war crimes committed in Southeast Asia, not isolated incidents but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command....

They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.

Yeah, I saw hints of it yesterday on various shows (can't give details as I am a politcal junkie and during campaign time I am listening to politics all the time while going about my business). I do remember Oliphant started to do this, but (surprisingly) Matthews cut him off.

Not to suprising actually since the media believe as Kerry does about the veterans but they do not want anyone to know it.
The media takes great pride in what it accomplished in the fall of South Vietnam and spreading lies about U.S. troops.
Hence their fascination with the recent scandal at the prison in Iraq.

At this point .. Kerry needs a transplant .. I don't think that foot of his can be saved

Since he's the nautical type, what about a peg leg? Throw in a parrot to complete the all too appropriate picture. Oh and of course a "Jolly Rodger" to fly from his boat.

Matthews cut him off?? He must be back on his meds or in fear of his job. I'm a political junkie too, but just can't tolorate Matthews. I rely on FR threads to give me the play by plays of the more interesting episodes of Hardball.

Americans seem to like to forgive and forget.

Yes we do. We can even forgive those we fight against, and turn right around and help them recover from the war (Provided we win of course :) ) We've sponsered our own guards and interogaters for citizenship (Luftwaffe guy from WW-II). But we don't forget, nor do we forgive those who stab us in the back, especially vets. Ask 'em how they feel about Robert Srange MacNamara for example. Kerry is so much lower than RSM that he can't even see up that high.

Until the candidates are placed on the ballot election law does not apply, only the Constituional requirements. In the case of Eagleton and Shriver in 72 the DNC met and made the choice of Shriver which was honored by all 50 states. Remember that federal election law is limited. The Constitution gives to the legislatures of the several states the duty of choosing the means for selecting electors. The Constitution apportions electoral votes per state, but the states decide how to apply them. Two states, Maine and one other give the winner the two electoral votes representing the senators and apportion the remainde by who won the congressional districts.

I was number 276, but being terminally stupid, joined the Army a year later

You're still around, and presumably have all your body parts intact, those that old age hasn't taken that is. What ya' bitch'n about?

When I bitch at myself, it's for not staying in a little longer. I could be retired now, and living with my wife, instead of stuck 350 miles away just to make the house payments (two of them). I took the first early release program available to my AFSC (like an MOS, but for the Air Force). I did go directly into the reserves, though I wasn't required to do so.

He will use this as a forum to appeal to all Vietnam veterans to come together and stop opening past wounds. He will ask them to look to the future.

It's far too late for that. Guys like Kerry tore this country apart. We're still not totally back together again. I don't think we can walk away from this until the truth is finally told about Vietnam and the men who fought for it.

He will say it is time to move on.

And moveon.org will ram the message home. Over and over and over again. Soros isn't going to run out of money anytime soon.

So, it was all the other soldiers commiting the attrocities, not Kerry and his pals?

Do I have this right? The Swifties who weren't directly on Kerry's boat didn't see enough to make a judgment, but Kerry knows everything that was going on with men with whom he never served? "We weren't cutting off ears or raping women, but I was the first the perps did tell." Maybe he saw it all while sleepwalking.

"Until the candidates are placed on the ballot election law does not apply, only the Constituional requirements."

I thought the absentee ballots were already made up but may be wrong. Either way, we're getting close to the wire. Kerry's personality will not allow him to back down because he believes he deserves to be commander in chief and that the public will love him when they get to know him - which the public DOES NOT, according to Kerry's own campaign. In addition, a last minute switch at this point in US history will be the last straw and will trigger a NASTY backlash. Kerry is upset that 'Nam vets don't universally love him?? He hasn't succeeded in taking away our 2nd Amendments rights yet, and we would be looking at one reason the 2nd Amendment was written as it was into the Constitution.

Their goal is a BLOODLESS coup, not getting themselves whacked by sniper fire or the myriad other ways in which they might be caused to shed their precious blood. They want power...combined with personal safety. Minimal physical risk. They may TALK the talk but they know the mood of the country has been hanging on a thread of REAL revolution since 9/11/01. I've been trying to explain this since the Clinton era. They have become terrified of Mainstream America in the past few years. I can't be any plainer.

$10 says Kerry will deny having ever made the call...just more of the "fear and smear" campaign being run by Bush--with the help of his VRWC cohorts.

Gonna be tough if it's on tape. Let's hope it is.
