Attached wires to Human Genitals
Malsua

Posted on 08/19/2004 7:15:52 PM PDT by Malsua

Forgive the vanity please, but I've not seen this addressed.

John Kerry said: "We attached telephone wires to human genitals and cranked up the voltage" or some such.

I'm perplexed. The prominent comm equipment used in vietnam was 12-15 volts.

Isn't skin resistivity higher than that? Certainly you can apply enough voltage with hand crank devices, but if it's only putting out 12-15 volts...wouldn't nothing happen?

I'm not suggesting anyone try this, but 15 volts won't hurt unless you put water on it or something. Could someone clear this up for me?

"You guys don't know squat about voltage, current and resistance."

I was an electrician on the YRBM 17 yard repair barge for the small boats stationed in the Delta between 68 and 69.

I will guarantee you that if I connect the positive lead of a hand generator to one of your nads and the negative lead to the other nad and crank that generator you will never have enough resistance between those two leads to keep your balls from frying.

The key word is genitals

OK, it's been added to the keywords!

" I will guarantee you that if I connect the positive lead of a hand generator"

I didn't mention a hand generator Mr. Electrician... I spoke specifically about a 12 volt battery. Re-read my post please.

However, regarding the hand generator, I doubt that a swift boat had one on board... My experience with telephone hand generators is that they will put out almost 100 volts AC at about 200 MA. That's enough to make your muscles painfully contract. That would be 20 watts, and you wouldn't be able to turn the crank fast enough under that load to actually get that much power (voltage times amperage).

what that idiot means is the Feild phone was a "Crank Phone" meaning you crank it to call the other end,.. meaning the phone itself causes an electrical charge.

Those phones never really made any electricity to speak of by the way.

A hand cranked generator works exactly like a siren, the faster you crank the louder it gets. :>)

"hand generator.... negitive lead..... positive lead....."

I thought you said you were an electrician? You must not have been much of one. The hand generators you are referring to did not have a negative and positive lead. They put out alternating current....

I TOTALY AGREE!! WITH THAT TAKE

My answer to these stupid posts,..

There is almost no way you can harm yourself permanently by becoming one with the circuit with a 12 volt car battery unless you pierce your skin with sharp probes.

When I heard the Kerry droning on about this...my first thought was "why of course, it's a French thing".

I can't recall the name of the movie, but I think something like this was Standard Operating Procedure for the French cops fighting Algerian terrorist suspects.

INSIDE TRACK ON WORLD NEWS by international syndicated columnist & broadcaster Eric Margolis

Aussaresses admits he and his team of `specialists' conducted one of the war's most notorious crimes: the 1955 mass slaughter of Algerian suspects in revenge for attacks on French settlers. `Action service' ran a secret torture center at the Villa les Tourelles in Algiers where Aussaresses personally supervised interrogations. Thousands of Algerians were subjected to `la gégène,' intense electric current delivered to genitals, ears, and lips, savage beatings, near-drowning in filthy water, and mock executions. Few suspects ever emerged alive.

Take a quick refresher course in dialectrics before you become too smug.

He sure was a busy war criminal, hero, protester.

He accomplished a lot in his 4 months in country---torture, mutilation, village burning, using .50 cal. on people, killing animals, poisoning food, dropping CIA agents off in Cambodia---surprising he had time to make his home movies, much less his regular duties winning 3 purple hearts, a bronze star and a silver star.He really must have driven that crew on the boat 24/7.

2000 volts is the electrical potential breakpoint where human muscle breaks, then down requiring surgical debridement even though the muscle "looks good (but is not). The patients are stunned, but failure to do so results in gangrene.

That would mean everyone hit by a spark plug would be screwed. Thankfully that is not the case. Is there a current flow and time of exposure associated with the above comments.

Most arc welders using DC operate between 32-40 volts and 100-300 amps current; however, the reason the voltage is generally limited to this value is to protect against injury from accidental touching of both poles by the operator and one side is always connected to a true earth ground; human skin makes a great dialectric which can be shown by squeezing both ends of a battery-powered ohmmeter.

The real danger is from soft-tissue exposure to heat.
