Please don't flame me for this question. I have shot Glocks on several occasions, and have seen and used the trigger safety.
I'm still unclear, however, what this safety is supposed to do. Assuming that its purpose is to prevent accidental discharges, how does this safety do so? If (for example) a branch catches the trigger, wouldn't the Glock discharge regardless of the trigger safety? Thanks.
I'd feel perfectly safe if my Glock didn't have this extra little device.
The gun won't shoot until the trigger is actually pulled. other guns may shoot when the gun is dropped, the hammer falls...etc. Glocks won't shoot unless that tiny part of the trigger is pulled. If you find your finger on the trigger when you are holstering, you will hear a bang...then a certain amount of pain.

Protect various people and agencies from lawyers. That's it.
It's a lawsuit protection device.
A much more effective safety would have been a grip safety, which is included on the springfield XD series of polymer guns.
If you have it in a proper holster (preferably Kydex) nothing will reach the trigger.
And on Browning's 1911 design too.
I remeber about 10 or more yrs. ago there were a few accidental shootings involving Police Officers shooting and sometimes killing thier victims. As it turned out, the trigger was a hair-pin trigger often going off by accident while the cop was running in pursuit of the suspect. After these incidents I think they changed the brand of guns.
The Glock system is just the Colt grip safety moved to the Glocks trigger. A series 80 Colt 1911 has a grip safety, a firing pin safety and a manual safety. It all works fine.

The only safety thats any good is the one between your ears!!
Keep your finger off the trigger till ready to shoot.

I own one, so I have to save for later.
That is of course, assuming it isn't Jim McGreevey's Kydex holster.
Own several, consider them perfectly safe.
If you dont want your Glock to go BOOM, then dont pull the trigger.
Same as a wheel gun.
Just keep your finger off the trigger until you see the mullah and you'll be all right.
Don't take this as a flame, because it isn't...
You don't own a gun, do you?
Grip safety, thumb safety, and on many inertial safety (internal) which prevents firing if the gun is dropped. Mr. Glock's gun is very good. Mr. Browning's is still the best. In my opinion, and that of many others.
