In honor of places that we know we could eat without being interupted by Kerry... Please post your favorite BBQ joint, where it is and what your favorite thing is at that place...

By far, the best BBQ I have ever eaten was at the Bar-B-Cutie in Nashville, TN. Although, those babyback ribs I had at WatchOutForSnakes house last week were pretty durn good too!

Course, I am a northern girl who visited the south one time (wish it could be more!)
and have to be satisfied with Carson's BBQ in Chicago.

Not to worry. BBQ/smoked meat is a spiritual (thus portable) phenomenon.

I'd willingly pay $100 for the recipe of the smoked burgers and sauce that
I had from a stand (Tasty-Freeze?) in Tonkawa, Oklahoma as a child.

And don't forget the episode of "MASH" when they got ribs and sauce flown from
Chicago to war-time Korea.
IIRC, the terms "ambrosia of the gods" and "better than s-x" were used during
that show to term the BBQ imported from Chi-town.
(but I suspect that the great BBQ in Chicago is the heritage of the blacks who
made that trek from the Mississippi Delta and other points northward to Chicago.)

As an BBQ lover with a few miles on the chassis...I can say that some
BBQ is definitely better than some s-x!!!

I'll leave the comparison to "ambrosia of the gods" to the folks over in
the theology departments and seminaries.

I can honestly say that I have NEVER been there. I do remember that everyone in Peoria seemed to love the place.

If I remember correctly, there are not too many barbeque joints in Peoria unless you want to wander to a questionable part of town.

Rudy's does barbeque, and has great Huevos Rancheros and Migas for breakfast.

My favorites, in my neck of the woods, are the ribs at Angelo's in Fort Worth, and the brisket at Railhead in Grapevine.

They also have a drive through and a $6 plate to go that will leave you satisfied and stuffed. Friendly and fast to boot.

One thing I will not tolerate in my Texas BQQ is lumps of fat, and their meat is always lean.

Yeah Hootch I gotta admit I did like Schuylers, and the prices weren't out of sight either. Still have to go with Moonlight down in that area though.

If I recall, this one was in a questionalbe part of town.

I remember... and this has been years... second floor looking out over some industrial buildings, linoleum floors, yellow trays, red baskets for the fries, BBQ flavored ketchup for dipping, a great BBQ sandwich in between two slices of white "kroger" bread (would stick to the roof of my mouth) and lots of 'diverse' people.

Other Oklahoma BBQ highlights:

1. "Chick and Millies' Blue Moon" in Ponca City OK. For decades, the tradition for
lots of Nebraska Football fans was to stay in Ponca City, OK and have BBQ (etc.) at Chick
and Millies.

2. Ada, OK --- I can't remember the name, but there is a legendary BBQ place there.

ANY black church in Atlanta that is having a barbeque fundraiser. Secret ingredient for the best ribs: Coca-Cola.

Actually though Hootch if you go to Casino Aztar, Corky's is pretty darn good. Great pulled pork. Somewhat pricey though, but I think that is a lot of Aztars doing.

It's a chain, but I enjoy Red, Hot & Blue. When there I slather on the Hot Hot Hot Hoochie Coochie BBQ sauce and I'm in heaven...
