That place is world famous but, I must regretfully report, no longer what it once was due to key principals no longer with us. (I live near Huntsville and work right around the corner. Used to eat there at least once a week but not so much these days.)

The name of the place is Texas Brisket....I had lunch there Monday.....Wow...I had forgotten about the Dairy Queen..... You remember the Palm Theater on the other side? also gone now.
I knew it had a name I just couldn't seem to remember it. I come within a block of it several times a week but always turn south on Brooks Street. If I'm going further out I usually take 59 rather than 90.

Is Interstate BBQ still open? So far as I know, yes, but it's not one of the places I frequent. We actually live in the eastern part of Shelby County (completely surrounded by Memphis) in a town called Germantown. We either go to Corky's or the "local" BBQ place, the Germantown Commisary. Good BBQ. Great deviled eggs! Zero parking.

Sorry, you'll have to argue this one without me. I hate the local barbecue, especially with all that vinegar. Yuck... But the slaw and hush puppies are great...
Give me Texas mesquite steaks any time.

If you're ever in Palm Beach County and you feel hungry, but don't want to eat chads with Carol Roberts, find a Park Avenue BBQ.
It's sort of a small chain, but I think the original one is in Lake Park. I go to the one in Tequesta all the time.
Excellent, and cheap as all heck. $5.49 for a 1/2 lb. of chopped pork or beef.

We lived out East and I worked at Methodist Central. I would go out of my way to pick up over at Interstate we never ate in there or at the Commissary. Take out is divine with four boys at home to feed. Wednesday was Corky's day at the hospital and was available for lunch. Ahhh those were the days. Yes we have received Fed Ex BBQ for Christmas from family. It's worth it!

I second votes for Gibson's in Decatur, Alabama, with all due consideration to Sonny's (west of Decatur in Lawrence county) and Greenbrier BBQ (between Decatur and Huntsville -- pronounced "Huntsvull"). Greenbrier was best until they moved to the new digs by the highway.
And with all due consideration to my local Lexington-style BBQ in North Carolina... it's second-rate compared with the North Alabama chow.
Hint: try a loaded potato at Gibson's. That's all you'll need!

Eat a banal old potato when in the presence of the best BBQ to be had on the face of the planet? And risk not having any room for the heavenly pies? No thanks, Mister.

Some of my earliest memories are a couple of visits to Louis Mueller's. I wasn't even in school yet when the family traveled from West Texas to Thorndale for a family funeral. My granddad took several generations of us there to eat before we all headed back home. Went again a year or so later on the way to a church anniversary in Serbin. Even as a kid I loved the place and the food...glad it's still around.

Wow, what timing. Best BBQ? I'm going to pull the pig off the smoker in about 20 minutes. It is going to be pulled, by the way. I make three kinds of Q - western, eastern and centeral south carolina Q. (Tomato-, Vinegar-, and Mustard-based) I'm partial to Mustard-based at the moment, but I grew up on Vinegar-based. I only make the tomato-based stuff for people that don't know anything about pulled pork. (Just kidding, it's good too.) Where am I? I live in Mechanicsburg, PA. I won't give any more details, since I don't want more people showing up on my doorstep. But if you are in the area, follow your nose.

Thanks carlo - we just moved to Richmond a month ago so I'm not familiar with the local "joints"....... lol

Of course, anything made outside the Carolinas really should be prevented by law from being called Barbeque. My wife and I just had this discussion in the car on our way to Raleigh today.
She was recently up in Harrisburg, PA at a gourd festival and they offered her barbeque. What she got was something we call a sloppy joe. I told her that just reinforces what I've always said: Yankees know nothing about barbeque and wouldn't recognize it if it bit them on the butt.
As for best barbeque, I know I'll incite some holy war here, but it is one of three:
Speedy's, Lexington, NC
Stratford Barbeque, King, NC
Short Sugar's, Reidsville, NC
Please note what all three have in common. That is all, you may resume your lives.

I am making that!!
It's a litttle late to get started, but, what the hell. Saturday night.
I already started a pork tenderloin for a 12+ hour slow roast in the oven. I catch that on sale about every weekend for $2.30 and I like the results. A generous dry rub, of my own creation (lots of minced garlic, as well) on the fat side.
Maybe some day, I will get a smoker, but, I can do OK with my oven.
