There's still plenty of time left today for him to do or say something even dorkier, so I'd hold off for now...
This is why Moore saw such an expression on Bush's face:
Had I been reading to children and had my top aide whisper in my ear that America is under attack, I would have whipped out my Zippo lighter and burned the school down. As the children ran screaming in terror, I would have shot them in the back. The ones that were left standing I would pick off with my special rice grenade."
See #98.
I agree with you!
If other FReepers don't beat me to it, as soon as I can later today, I'm going to research this. Don't have access to Lexis-Nexis, though. If any FReepers out there do, can you do a little research on where Kerry was on 9/11 and what he was doing? Also what has he done to help prevent his home state from being used as a terrorist launching pad in the future? Anyone who digs up such info, but who may not be comfortable with the task of writing, can email me the info, and I'll write an article for FR.
M2C, you're a good writer also. Maybe between you and I, we can put something together on this.
You just perfectly defined his "couth".
That's a sucker trap that Kerry's putting out there. I do believe that most Americans, except for the loons, agree with how the president handled it - it has NOT been a mainstream issue at all.
Any parent knows why he behaved as he did, and would hope they would be able to do the same.
I think Kerry mentioned where he was on 9/11 during the Larry King interview..................just a sec.
"Of course, he's had nearly THREE YEARS to think about this.
The President had half a second. I still believe he did the right thing.
What should he have done? Jump into a phone booth and flown around the world backwards to turn back time?"
The President was aware enough to understand it was a "defining moment" not just for him, but for our country. Not only did he have a classroom of children watching his every move, but the Whitehouse Press Corps was there, for all the President knew transmitting "live" worldwide.
Having read everything available on this, including the 9/11 Report, I found his self control admirable.
I have no doubt Kerry would have FREAKED OUT. None what so ever.
And I have yet to meet a person that didn't think later that terrible day "Thank God Gore isn't President."
President Bush has validated that gut feeling a hundred times since, and I expect he will in fact be rewarded with a second term because of it.
hey John Kerry...how low can you go?
KING: Where were you on 9/11?
HEINZ KERRY: You know, it's very interesting. I landed at National Airport less than 12 hours before, coming from Pennsylvania, where I was doing a prescription drugs thing -- meeting. And I came in from Pittsburgh, landed at National, and that's the last time I landed at National for quite a while.
KING: How'd you hear about it?
HEINZ KERRY: I was at home in Washington. I had just come in and I got a call...
KERRY: I think I called.
HEINZ KERRY: And they said, look at the TV. I looked at the TV and I couldn't believe it.
KING: Where were you?
KERRY: I was in the Capitol. We'd just had a meeting -- we'd just come into a leadership meeting in Tom Daschle's office, looking out at the Capitol. And as I came in, Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid were standing there, and we watched the second plane come in to the building. And we shortly thereafter sat down at the table and then we just realized nobody could think, and then boom, right behind us, we saw the cloud of explosion at the Pentagon. And then word came from the White House, they were evacuating, and we were to evacuate, and so we immediately began the evacuation.
HEINZ KERRY: You walked out with John McCain, didn't you?
KERRY: Yes.
KING: You and what?
HEINZ KERRY: He and John walked out together.
KING: He and John McCain walked out -- what did you think?
Did you think...
(CROSSTALK)
KERRY: I knew instantaneously...
KING: Clinton said he though bin Laden.
KERRY: I knew instantaneously with the first. I'm a pilot, and I looked at the weather, and it's what we call in pilot lingo CAVU, ceiling and visibility unlimited. And I knew that that plane did not fly into that building accidentally, as people were speculating. It just doesn't happen, could not, under those circumstances. So I knew it was deliberate, whether it was suicide, whether it was something -- I couldn't tell. When the second plane hit, it was obvious to the world.
And as we went out of the building, my immediately feeling was, we're at war. I mean, that was the sense, that we are under attack. People are attacking the United States of America and we needed to respond.
It is disgusting but I think it is great because it shows you how desperate his campaign is. He is imploding and it will only get worse.
That was so defining to me, to keep the nation calm, just like he did in that classroom.
I'm guessing he's going to say he's going to Ted Drewe's in St. Louis for a concrete and then not show up, ala Leon's in Milwaukee yesterday.
"two of the hijacked planes took off from Logan Airport in his state."
Earlier threads discussed the fact that concerns about safety at Logan were brought to him. I think he bumped them to someone else. I know FReepers will jump in with the facts.
Nice to see Kerry step right into Michael Moore's ample panties.
Thank you for the beautiful pic - something to make us smile with love and admiration for our President and his (and our) beautiful First Lady.
